"CONTROL CENTER"
VIEWFINDER
If you look through the viewfinder, you will note a range
meter at the center of the field, f-number information on
the right hand side, and a manual aperture indication mark
for AE release at the left upper part.
F-NUMBER FOR CORRECT EXPOSURE: With the Meter
Needle (56) in the range of correct exposure in AEC mode,
the f-number indicated by the needle on the Aperture Scale
(57) gives a value of aperture at which the lens will be set
when the shutter is released for a shot.
CORRECT EXPOSURE RANGE: With the meter needle
located in the white zone between the upper (55) and lower
(58) red markers on the scale, the exposure is correct. For
an AR (Automatic) lens the Automatic Under-exposure
Indicator (55) moves depending on the f-number of the lens
at the full opening to warn under-exposure, if any, provided
the under-exposure alarm indication is deviated upward of
the nominal f-number at the full open in consideration of
the lens characteristic and practical range of photographing.
MANUAL APERTURE INDICATOR MARK: When the
camera is set to manual mode with AEC released or when
the stopped-down metering system is used, the Manual
Aperture Indicator Mark (53) will appear at the left upper
part in the viewfinder to give a warning that a picture is not
to be taken under AEC.
INDEX POINT FOR STOPPED-DOWN METERING: For
stopped-down metering, the meter needle will be brought in
line with the Index Point for Stopped-down Metering (54)
to secure a correct exposure. (Refer to "Stopped-down
Metering" on Page 47.)
