1.2 Symbols
Signal words are used in this manual and apply to hazards
or unsafe practices which could result in personal injury or
property damage. See the information below for definitions
of the signal words.
WARNING! Warning indicates a potentially hazardous
situation which, if not avoided, could result in death or
serious injury.
CAUTION! Caution indicates a potentially hazardous
situation which, if not avoided, may result in property
damage or minor injury or both.
Gives useful tips, recommendations and information for
efficient, trouble-free use.
IMPORTANT indicates a hazardous situation that could
result in damage to property if it is not avoided.
This product complies with Directive 93/42/EEC concerning
medical devices.
The launch date of this product is stated in the CE
declaration of conformity.
Safe Working Load
Consult the user manual.
DO NOT exceed 95°C washing temperature.
DO NOT bleach.

DO NOT iron.
1.3 Intended Use
The Invacare® Toileting High sling combines quick and easy
application with maximum personal access for dressing and hygiene.
It is only suitable for clients with good trunk control but whom
may need additional head support; however the sling can promote
independence, as the arms remain free for function.
1.4 Service Life
All Invacare slings are guaranteed for one year. Expected service life
of the product is 1-5 years. Service life time varies depending on the
fabric, frequency of use, laundering practices, and weight carried.
2 Safety
2.1 General Guidelines
WARNING!
– DO NOT use this product or any available optional
equipment without first completely reading and
understanding these instructions and any additional
instructional material such as user manuals, service
manuals or instruction sheets supplied with this
product or optional equipment. If you are unable to
understand the warnings, cautions or instructions,
contact a healthcare professional, dealer or technical
personnel before attempting to use this equipment -
otherwise, injury or damage may occur.
– Please check your sling on delivery. If the sling is not in
perfect condition, please contact your supplier.

3 Usage
3.1 Sling application
WARNING!
– Slings should be checked regularly for wear and damage
(in accordance with each country's regulations).
NEVER use a damaged sling.
– If you are in any doubt, please do not attempt to use
the sling and seek the advice of a professional or your
supplier.
– Invacare recommends that a risk assessment is always
carried out by a professional prior to issuing lifting
equipment. Always choose the sling design and size
according to the client's weight, size and physical ability.
– If you are in doubt about the use of Invacare's slings
with other manufacturers' equipment, contact Invacare
or your supplier for advice.
Sling application — Sitting in chair or wheelchair
1.
Lean the client forward ensuring that he is well supported to
reduce risk of falling and to promote feelings of security.
2.
Slide the sling down behind the back of the client in a central
position with the aperture apex aligned with the base of the spine.
The padded upper edge must be right under the arms.
WARNING!
– The arms must be outside the sling.

Sit the client back against the sling. Figure 1.
4.
Pass the leg support towards the front of the chair to each side
of the thigh and then pass each leg support under each thigh.

Lean the client forward ensuring that he is well supported to
reduce risk of falling and to promote feelings of security.

Slide the sling down behind the back of the client in a central
position with the aperture apex aligned with the base of the spine.
The padded upper edge must be right under the arms.
WARNING!
– The arms must be outside the sling.

Sit the client back against the sling. Figure 3.
Alternatively, if the client does not have sufficient trunk
control, roll the sling to mid-way point and roll the client
to one side to position the rolled up sling under the lifted
side. Ensure the center of the sling (green mark) is placed
centrally along the spine. Roll the client to the other side,
unroll the sling and roll the client back into position on
the sling. Figure 4.

Bend the knees one at a time to apply the sling under the legs.
3.2 Application of the legs straps
It is crucial for the sitting position that the leg support is
placed correctly. Clients with reduced hip control must have
the leg supports placed close to the groin.
