5. Commissioning, operation
5.8 Autoclaving
The following is valid only for instruments with the option
"Autoclavable version", identifiable through the dial marking
"AUTOCLAVABLE".
Model PG43SA-S with vent valve: To carry out the autoclaving
process correctly, the vent valve must be open. See chapter 2.3
"Model PG43SA-S with vent valve".
Model PG43SA-C with vent valve: Ensure that, before the start
of the autoclaving process, the vent valve has been closed. See
chapter 2.4 "Model PG43SA-C with vent valve".
Observe the permissible conditions of autoclaving, see chapter
9.3 "Permissible temperature"
During the autoclaving process, no weight-loading must be exert-
ed via the case and the instrument must not lie on its window.
Model PG43SA-S with vent hole: In case of a zero offset, carry out
a zero point setting. See chapter 5.7 "External zero point setting".
Model PG43SA-C with vent valve: Allow the instrument to cool
to ambient temperature. By briefly opening the vent valve, the
pressure difference between the atmosphere and the sealed case
will be eliminated. See chapter 2.4 "Model PG43SA-C with vent
valve".
After the autoclaving cycles, there may be a slight bulging of the
window. With an increasing number of autoclaving cycles, whitish
residues can build up on the window and pointer. Hairline cracks
may appear in the dial paint. It is recommended to subject the
measuring instrument to a visual inspection for external damage
after each autoclaving cycle.
In case of external damage, the instrument has to be
taken out of service, if necessary, since the 3-A conform-
ity may be impaired.
