(A) carefully. Use only warm water and soft cloths or brushes.
Assemble the skimmer after this again. Make sure that the O-ring
(E) and the PVC thread is lubricated with silicone fat (Vaseline is
o.k., too. But never use other fats!)
Control the incoming air. If the air input is smaller than usual
check following parts:
Venturi-skimmer ("V"): if the venturi (V) is blocked by a salt
crust suck a little bit R.O. water through the air inlet tube (do not
put water through ozone generators or activated carbon filters!). A
chalk crust will never occur with this type of venturi. If the ven-
turi is blocked by particles or fibers you can disassemble the
whole unit at the two unions (water will come out).
Air-stone-skimmer ("A"): if the air wood is very dirty or less air
bubbles are produced you must change the air wood (every 2-10
weeks). Therefore stop air and water pump and unscrew the cap
(T) of the aeration module (Q) with a 20 mm wrench. The air
wood is fixed with a short silicone tube. Take away the old one
and fix a new air wood. Take only original air woods – bad qual-
ity will lower the skimming efficiency. Screw the cap (T) with the
new air wood into the aeration module (Q). Take care the O-ring
(S) is at the right position and is lubricated with silicone fat, too.
Do not screw the cap with a wrench – only hand tight. Then start
the water pump and afterwards the air pump again.
Annual maintenance: cleaning the AquaCareFlotor
All tubes of the Flotor must be very clean. Dirty or covered tubes
reduces the efficiency of the skimming.
For cleaning the skimmer shut off all pumps and disconnect the
skimmer (shut off the ozone generator, too). After cleaning the
skimmer cup (B) and injector (V) or aeration module (Q), take the
inner tube (G) out of the skimmer. Then you can clean the whole
main tube with warm water, soft brushes and soft cloths. Re-
assemble all parts and control if all O-rings are o.k..
Do not use tools that scratches the skimmer material. To eliminate
chalk crusts use a weak acid (take care with the acid!).

Problems that can occur
Skimmer is leaking:
control all O-rings in unions, ball valves and at the skimmer cup.
Lubricate all O-rings with silicone fat (Vaseline is o.k., but do not
use other fats!)
Gas bubbles will not reach the cone:
1. the organic load is too low – the water is clean – wait for one
day
2. the water inlet is too low – open the water ball valve (N)
3. clean the water pump and all tubes
4. rise the water level in the filter sump
5. use a bigger diameter for incoming tubes – use a stronger pump
Foam is too fluid:
1. reduce the air input with the ball valve (W)
2. take care with substances that make the foam fluid like some
trace elements or vitamins – reduce the dosing of that substances
Any foam in the cup:
All properly sized skimmers are working only some hours per
day. A skimmer working all the day is not dimensioned in the
right way – it is too small.
1. increase the air input with the valve (W) or use a stronger air
pump (type "A"), clean the injector (type "V").
2. Do you feed fatty food? This stuff and vitamin E will break
down the foam production for several hours – use a foam increas-
ing substance.
3. Reduce the water inlet with the ball valve (N) to eliminate the
strong currents and waves in the upper part of the skimmer.
You have 24 months warranty on all AquaCare units excepts
spare parts like air stones. You have no warranty if parts are bro-
ken by violent. If you send a warranty unit to AquaCare please
send the dated receipt, too.
