1. Area of Application
The cable loop of the Hitch Box for Safety (HBS) was conceived
as suspension point in a building's ceiling for personal fall
protection. It has been certified according to EN 795:2012
Class A standards as a suspension point for fall protection of
a single person (max. 100 kg), with a breaking force of 12 KN.
The HBS is intended for use in combination with connection
elements that meet EN 362:2004-12 standards; or with a
safety line and certified personal protection equipment against
a fall, for example a connection lanyard with shock absorber
according to EN 354:2002-09 and EN 355:2002-09, and a
safety harness according to EN 361:2002-09 standards.
The cable loop of the HBS is not intended
for suspending and moving loads.
The HBL is designed to be a «building product». During con-
struction of the building ceiling, it is positioned true-to-size in
the formwork and then embedded in concrete (HBL Mounting
Instructions).
The required minimum concrete quality must be in accordance
with the standard C20/25, Eurocode 2, with a minimum rein-
forcement strength corresponding to valid national standards.
The same criteria apply for the reinforcement against splitting
as for the HBLE1100, (Page 2, Table 1).
After the forms are removed, the cable loops are positioned
in the vertical position and can be used as suspension points
as soon as the concrete has achieved a minimum strength of
C20/25.
The HBS should only be mounted and
used by competent professionals.

The cable loop is 8 mm thick. To avoid a reduction in load ca-
pacity and early damage, the centre of suspension must have a
round-off radius of a minimum of r ≥ 5 mm (Image 1).
A deflection of the cable loop of up to 15° during a fall is per-
missible (Images 2a and b).

2. Warning and Safety Instructions
• The HBS is designed to be a suspension
system that protects a person from falling.
• The HBS should not be used for affixing or
moving loads. For this the Hitch Box for Load
(HBL) is intended.
• The suspension point may only be used by
persons who have the necessary knowledge
and training to do so,
and who fulfil the physical and health
requirements for use.
• If a fall does occur, written approval
by a competent professional must
be given prior to using the suspension point
again.
