SOFTWARE UPDATE PROCEDURE
Use Evinrude Diagnostics software to view the
"Identity Screen."
Record the engine management software
version and revision numbers.
Save and print an "Engine Identity Report."
Log into DealerPort (www.dealerport.com).
Click Engine Software.

Click Engine Software Update (maps).
Click Evinrude E-TEC - Windows & PDA
(maps).
Click Engine E-TEC Inline 25 - 90 HP.
Scroll through the list of Software Version
Numbers.
Locate the Software Version Number, based on
the horsepower and model suffix.
Compare the software revision number in EMM
to the Software Revision Number posted online.
If the posted Software Revision Number is
different than the EMM Software Revision
Number, the software may be updated.
A higher Software Revision Number usually
indicates newer software.
Click Get Map. (Save file to a known location.)
After downloading the file and opening it, the
program will extract software into files for use
with Evinrude Diagnostics
Evinrude Diagnostics version 3.3 or higher.
If DealerPort is not available, e-mail a request
for the software to bmca.techsvc@brp.com.

In the e-mail subject line, you must reference
"E-TEC 25-30 HP Software."
Use Evinrude Diagnostics software to install the
update on the outboard.
Check the "Identity Screen" to confirm the
correct version and revision numbers are
installed.
Save and print a second "Engine Identity
Report."
CHECK START IN GEAR PROTECTION
Start outboard and shift to FORWARD.
Turn
FORWARD.
Try to restart the outboard. Outboard should not
start.
Turn key switch to ON position.
Try to restart the outboard with recoil starter.

Shift back to NEUTRAL and restart outboard.
Shift to REVERSE. Turn outboard OFF while
control is in REVERSE.
Try to restart the outboard. Outboard should not
start.
Turn key switch to ON position.
Try to restart the outboard with recoil starter.
Outboard should not start.
