Start up
Before it is used for the fi rst time, the
iron should be cleaned according to the
instructions given in the paragraph General
Care and Cleaning. Th is will result in the
removal of possible dust particles from the
sole plate and subsequently lessen the smell
typically encountered when fi rst switching
on.
Ensure suffi cient ventilation.
Ironing
Th e steam jet function is available only
aft er the water reservoir has been fi lled
with water and the boiler is switched on. It
can be used as soon as the steam indicator
lamp lights up.
–
Place the iron on the iron rest and insert
the plug into a suitable wall socket.
–
Set the temperature control knob to the
required ironing temperature as indicated
by the ironing symbols.
–
While the iron is heating up, the steam
button indicator lamp will be on. Th e
lamp will go out once the required ironing
temperature is reached.
Before ironing any fabrics, the soleplate
should be cleaned by passing it over an
old, clean cotton cloth, while using the
steam jet function; this helps to fl ush out
any dirt residues or lint particles trapped
inside the openings in the soleplate.
For dry ironing, the water reservoir may
be empty.
Once the water has been used up during
ironing, switch off the boiler. Keep the
steam jet button pressed until no further
steam is emitted. Allow the unit to cool
down before it is fi lled again.
Replace the iron on the iron rest on the
steam generator aft er use, and remove the
plug from the wall socket.
Steam jet
When the steam jet button is depressed, jets
of steam are emitted through the openings
in the sole plate. Th is function can be very
useful when removing stubborn creases or
when ironing diffi cult or thick fabrics.
Th e steam jet function may also be used with
the iron held vertically, to remove creases or
wrinkles from fabrics.
For extended steam output, push the slide
control towards the handle while keeping the
steam jet button depressed.
General care and cleaning
Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is
disconnected from the power supply and
has cooled down completely.
To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not
clean the appliance with water and do not
immerse it in water.
–
If necessary, the appliance may be wiped
with a dry lint-free cloth.
Iron
–
Starch, fat and other deposits on the sole
plate may be removed with a woollen
cloth soaked in a vinegar/water solution.
–
In order to protect the clean sole plate,
occasionally apply a small amount of
paraffi n to the warm plate, wiping it off
with a woollen cloth.
Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning
solutions.
Emptying water remaining in the reservoir
Aft er use, any remaining water must be
removed from the reservoir.
Allow suffi cient time for the appliance to
cool down. If there is much water left in
the reservoir, cooling may take up to 60
minutes.
–
Start unscrewing the reservoir cap
and carefully. Th ere may be two signs
that the appliance has not yet suffi ciently
cooled down, in which case there remains
a severe danger of scalding. Th ese
indicators are:
-
hot steam starts escaping when the cap
is slowly turned,
-
aft er one or two 2 turns of the cap,
a large amount of steam is suddenly
emitted through a vent in the reservoir
cap which opens as the cap is turned.
