The machine does not switch
on.
The pump is very noisy.

Possible cause
The machine is not connected to the
power supply.
There is no water in the tank.
The machine ready light (5) was off
when the brew button was pressed (4).
The portafi lter was not preheated

The milk is not suitable: powdered milk
or low-fat milk has been used.
The Pannarello and/or steam spout
is dirty.
There is no steam left in the boiler.
There is not enough coffee in the
portafi lter.
The grind is too coarse.
The coffee is old or not suitable.
The pod is old or not suitable.
The water tank is empty.
The grind is too fi ne.
Coffee has been tamped or pressed in
the portafi lter.
There is too much coffee in the
portafi lter.
The hot water/steam knob (7) is open.
The machine has limescale build-up.
The fi lter in the portafi lter is clogged.
The pod is not suitable (double-dose).
The portafi lter is incorrectly inserted in
the brew unit.
The upper edge of the portafi lter is
dirty.
The pod is inserted incorrectly.
There is too much coffee in the
portafi lter.
Solution
Connect the machine to the power supply.
Refi ll with water (section 4.4).
Wait until the machine ready light turns on.
Preheat the portafi lter.
Preheat the cups with hot water.
Use only cold, whole milk.
Clean the Pannarello as described in
section 9.
Prime the circuit (section 4.5) and repeat
the procedure described in section 8.
Add coffee (section 5).
Use a different blend or a fi ner grind of
coffee (section 6).
Use a different blend (section 6).
Use a different, single-dose pod.
Refi ll with water (section 4.4).
Use a different blend (section 6).
Empty the portafi lter and insert only 1-2
doses of coffee (without tamping).
Reduce the quantity of coffee in the
portafi lter (only 1 - 2 scoops).
Close the knob (7).
Descale the machine (section 10).
Clean the fi lter (section 9).
Change the type of pod; use a single-dose
pod only (section 6).
Insert the portafi lter correctly (section 5).
Clean the edge of the portafi lter.
Insert the pod correctly. Make sure it does
not hang over the edge of the portafi lter.
Reduce the quantity of coffee using the
measuring scoop (use only 1-2 scoops).
