Safety instructions and warnings
This machine complies with the specified
safety regulations for electric machines.
Please read the operating manual careful-
ly before you start the machine. Incorrect
use may result in damage and personal injuries.
Those not familiar with the manual must not be
allowed to operate the machine. Keep the opera-
ting manual in a safe place.
Children and young people must not be allowed
to use the machine.
Correct usage
The machine is designed for loosening soil in a
private sphere. If it is used for any other purpose
or if any modifications are made to the machine,
the manufacturer cannot accept any liability.
You must also obey the safety instructions, the
assembly and operating manual and also the
general accident prevention regulations.
Safety instructions
Ensure that there are no people or animals near
where you are working. Do not use the machine
if you are tired or lacking in concentration or your
reactions are impaired by alcohol or medication.
Inattentiveness can result in injuries. Do not wear
baggy clothing or jewellery, wear long trousers to
protect your legs and strong footwear. Remove all
items that may be catapulted out of the machine
from the area and check them.
Fill the tank with petrol before you start the
machine, do not top up whilst the engine is run-
ning or is hot.
Caution. Petrol is highly inflammable. Do not
fill the tank in enclosed areas. No smoking.
Do not start the machine is petrol has been spil-
led. Clean the machine and wait until the residue
has evaporated.
Replace the tank and tank cover at regular inter-
vals in the interests of your safety and also replace
any damaged exhaust components.
Only store petrol in approved containers.
Use the machine in the outdoors only in daylight
or with adequate lighting and with firm footing.

Keep your hands and feet away from rotating
parts, do not lift the machine or carry it whilst it is
operating.
Only use the machine at walking pace and take
particular care when working on slops and with
turning manoeuvres.
Do not make any modifications to the engine and
do not exceed the specified engine speed.
Ensure that you keep your limbs a safe distance
from the machine. Start the engine with particular
caution and as detailed in the operating manual.
Before starting the machine conduct a visual
inspection and replace any worn or damaged
parts and bolts in sets.
Switch the engine off when you leave the machi-
ne and when you wish to refuel it. After you have
switched off the engine it will continue to run for
a few seconds. As it does so, close the throttle
valve and the petrol shut-off cock (if there is one).
Ensure that all bolts, nuts and screws are tight and
replace any damaged or worn parts to ensure that
the machine is safe to use.
Never store the machine in buildings in which fire
or naked flames are present if there is any petrol
in its tank. Danger of explosion. Empty the tank
outdoors if necessary.
Before storing the machine in buildings allow the
engine to cool outdoors. Keep the exhaust and
engine free of dirt and remove any leaked oil or
vegetable matter from it.
Assembly
First ensure that you are familiar with the various
parts and place them all in front of yourself on the
ground (Figure B).
