Use with briquettes
DE
High-quality barbecue briquettes are easy to handle and reliably to use. They often have a similar size
EN
and store the heat for a long time. That way heat adjustment works easiest. The number of briquettes
you need below and on top of your iron depends on the cooking method applied. Initially, it is better
FR
to start off with fewer briquettes and little by little determine the quantity you need.
Tips for the Burger Iron
For preparing burgers and co. it is important to determine the correct amount of ingredients. For
instance, the filing capacity for minced meat in one cast-iron half comes to 250 - 300 g. Keep in mind,
however, that the size of the patties changes as the meat loses liquid during cooking. Also, different
kinds of meat have different roasting features. For the desired roasting result, you must, therefore, test
the right amount of ingredients you require.
Tips for the Sandwich Iron
For the Petromax Sandwich Iron one needs to keep in mind that the iron is designed for large slices of
sandwich bread (dimension between 10 x 10 x 1.3 cm or 11 x 11 x 1.5 cm). For sandwich preparation
please note not to add too much topping as the ingredients hardly cook during baking. If you leave
the Sandwich Iron in the heat for too long the bread of your sandwich might burn. You can also use the
halves of your Sandwich Iron indidvidually as mini pans for roasting of, for instance, bacon and eggs.
Tips for Waffle Iron
When making waffles in the Petromax Waffle Iron it is useful to mix the batter with slightly more
grease than usual, for instance with melted butter. Thus, they will come easier off the pan. To remove
possible residues of batter from the grooves of your Waffle Iron you best use a classic dishwashing
brush and clear water.
Tips for the Irons with short bar
The Petromax Irons in the version with short bar are ideal for use on the grill. Not only are they compact,
but also suitable for one-handed operation due to the shorter way. They are, however, not suitable for
use at the open fire as the distance to the flames is too short. During use please make sure to protect
your hands from burns with heat-resistant gloves. On the grill always position your Irons with short bar
in such a way that the wooden handles cannot accidentally catch fire, for instance by placing the Irons
near the edge. By the way, the cast-iron halves of your Irons with short bar are completely identical in
construction to the Irons with long bar.
