Flanges, metal plates and
external earth connection
If flange plates have to be dismantled, (e.g. to
drill entry holes), when replacing the plates, in
order to maintain the minimum degree of
protection, it is necessary to ensure that the
flange plate and the fixing clamp fit correctly.
PE conductors fed from outside shall be
connected to the PE terminal provided on
the flange.
If a separate external earth connection is
mounted on the moulded plastic enclosure,
connection shall be made using a cable with a
max. cross section of 25 mm².
Inside the enclosure this external earth
connection is designed for a cable lug
connection with an M6 borehole (see Fig. 10).
Warning: Metal flanges, metal plates and
metal glands shall be incorporated in the
potential equalization.

Closing apparatus

Any foreign matter shall be removed from
the apparatus.
The switch handle on the cover of the switch
is to be set to the "ON" position.
When fitting the apparatus cover, care shall
be taken to ensure that the switch shaft of
the switch insert engages correctly in the
carrier hole of the switch handle.
To ensure the required minimum degree of
protection, the cover screws shall be
tightened down.
Overtightening may impair the degree of
protection.

earth plate
In addition to this, the correct functioning and
installation of the apparatus in accordance
with these operating instructions and other
applicable regulations shall be checked.
Internal earth
Warning: The maintenance and repair
connection
supply socket distribution may only be put
into operation if a "hot work permit" has
been issued and if it has been ensured that
no potentially explosive gas atmosphere is
present!
If, when the socket distribution is put into
operation, the ELCB (RCD) trips immediately,
check the connected consumer units for an
earth fault. Eliminate any connections or
insulation faults between the neutral and the
PE wire.
Check the plug for any damage before
inserting it into the socket.
The user must ensure that a uniform
equipotential earth applies throughout when
the plug and socket system is being operated.
The incorrect installation and operation of
the maintenance and repair supply socket
distributions can entail the loss of warranty.

Maintenance/Servicing

The relevant national regulations which
apply to the maintenance/servicing of
electrical apparatus in explosive
atmospheres, shall be observed.
Before opening the enclosure, make sure
that the device is disconnected from the
voltage, or take appropriate protective
measures.
The required maintenance intervals depend on
the specific application and shall be,
determined by the user dependent on the
conditions of use.
The white test button "T" of the ELCB (RCD)
shall be operated once a month in the
switched on state. The ELCB (RCD) shall trip
when the test button is actuated (blue switch
jumps to "O" position).
If this is not the case, the protective function is
no longer guaranteed and the ELCB (RCD)
shall be replaced.
Warning: In the case of live socket
distributions and when the enclosure cover
is open, the switching-on of the MCB or the
function test of the ELCB (RCD) shall be
carried out with special care by specialized
personnel!
During servicing, special attention shall be
given to checking the parts on which the
explosion protection depends (e.g. intactness
of the flameproof components, the enclosure,
the seals and cable entries).
If, in the course of servicing, it is ascertained,
that repairs are necessary, section 8 of these
operating instructions shall be observed.

Modifications
Only original COOPER CROUSE-HINDS /
CEAG parts shall be used for carrying out
repairs.
In the event of damage to the flameproof
encapsulation, replacement of the
respective components is mandatory. In
case of doubt, the respective apparatus
shall be sent back to the manufacturer for
repair.
Repairs that affect the explosion protection
may only be carried out by COOPER
CROUSE-HINDS / CEAG or by a qualified
electrician in compliance with the
respective national regulations.
Components may only be replaced by
components of the same type (electrical
ratings and mechanical size).
When replacing these individual built-in
components (safety switch, ELCB (RCD's),
MCB, flange sockets, etc.), section 6.2
"Opening apparatus / Electrical connection"
shall be observed.
Modifications to the device or changes to
its design are not permitted.
9
Disposal / Recycling
The respective valid national regulations for
waste disposal shall be observed when
disposing of apparatus.
To facilitate the recycling of individual parts,
parts made of moulded plastic shall bear the
marking for the type of plastic used.
The product range is subject to changes and
additions.
