Safety instructions

The maintenance and repair supply
socket distributions are not
suitable for Zone 0 hazardous
areas.
The safety switch of the maintenance and
repair supply socket distribution shall be
safeguarded against unauthorized use by
means of a padlock (padlock shackle Ø =
4-6 mm, Fig. 1).
The cover cannot be removed when the
safety switch is in the OFF position.
Operation of supply socket distributions is
only permitted if a "Hot Work Permit" has
been granted.
Before switching on, ensure that there is no
potentially explosive gas atmosphere.
Modifications to the supply socket
distributions or changes to their design are
not permitted. They shall be used for their
intended purpose and shall be in a perfect and
clean condition.
Only original COOPER CROUSE-HINDS /
CEAG parts may be used as replacements
and for repairs.
Repairs that affect the explosion protection
may only be carried out by COOPER
CROUSE-HINDS / CEAG or by a qualified
electrician in compliance with the
respective national regulations.
Prior to being put into operation, the supply
socket distributions shall be checked in
accordance with the instructions as per
section 6.
Before initial operation, any foreign matter
shall be removed from the supply socket
distributions.
The national safety rules and regulations
for the prevention of accidents, as well as
the safety instructions included in these
operating instructions, that, like this text,
are set in italics, shall be observed!

Conformity with standards

The apparat is conform to the standards
specified in the EC-Declaration of conformity.
It has been designed, manufactured and
tested according to the state of the art and to
DIN EN ISO 9001.
94/9 EC: Equipment and protective systems
intended for use in potentially explosive
atmospheres.
The supply socket distributions also fulfil
further requirements such as those of the
directive on electromagnetic compatibility
(2004/108/EEC).

Field of application

The maintenance and repair socket distributions
are suitable for use in Zone 1, 2 hazardous
areas acc. to IEC 60 079-10 and
IEC 60 079-14!
The enclosure materials used, including the
exterior metal parts, are high-quality materials
which ensure a corrosion protection and
resistance to chemical substances
corresponding to the requirements in a
"normal industrial atmosphere":
- impact resistant polyamide
- glass-fibre reinforced polyester
- special steel AISI 316 L.
In case of use in an extremely aggresive
atmosphere, please refer to manufacturer.

Use/Properties
Provided that a "hot work permit" has been
issued, the maintenance and repair socket
distributions can be used for the supply of
power during repair, maintenance and
installation work in hazardous areas.
The supply socket distributions are fitted with
a safety switch and can be used up to max.
80 A (see Technical Data).
To prevent unauthorized switching, the switch
can be locked in the "OFF" position by means
of 3 padlocks, see Fig. 1 (shackle diameter of
padlocks 4-6 mm).
A built-in locking device prevents the opening
of the enclosure in the „OFF" position.
The IEC -flange sockets in "industrie design"
can generally be used for the voltage range
laid down in IEC 309 (e.g. UN 400V
corresponds to the voltage range 380 - 415V).
In acc. with DIN VDE 0620, the flange sockets
with earthed contacts shall be operated up to
max. 16A, 250V, 50/60Hz.
The sockets are safeguarded by means of
MCBs or ELCBs (RCDs) with the respective
rated current.
The function of circuit breakers shall be
checked after several short circuits.
An ELCB (RCD) does not prevent the
sensation on the human body resulting from
an electric shock.
After the cause for tripping has been
eliminated, reset the ELCB (RCD) by switching
the toggle switch (blue) to the "ON" position.
Open the respective enclosure cover to switch
the tripped MCB or ELCB (RCD) on again and
to check the function of the ELCB (RCD).
Warning: In the case of live socket
distributions and when the enclosure cover
is open, the switching-on of the MCB or the
function test of the ELCB (RCD) shall be
carried out with special care by specialized
personnel!
The apparatus connected to the plug shall
be suitable for the mains voltage being
applied.
To ensure the degree of protection stated on
the type label even when the plug is inserted,
after insertion the bayonet ring on the
COOPER CROUSE-HINDS / CEAG plug is
turned until it reaches the stop on the IEC
flange socket.
When using other plugs with a lower IP-
protection than that which applies to the
maintenance socket, the IP- protection of
the whole combination (plug and flange
socket) is reduced.
After separating the plug from the flange
socket, the latter shall be closed and secured
with the bayonet ring.
The CEE flange sockets a padlock (shackle ∅
= 5mm) can be fitted to the bayonet ring ((see
Fig 1, page 10) as an additional safeguard
against unauthorized use.
The data according to sections 3 and 4
shall be taken into account during use.
