Intended use

This needle scaler (also called a needle hammer) is a pneumatically operated tool that is suitable for various applica-
tions, such as
- Roughening, cleaning, rust removal, descaling
- Removing dirt, stripping paint, scale removal
- Scabbling, etc.
When using copper/beryllium needles near potentially explosive areas the relevant safety regulations must be strictly
observed. Technical modifications to the device are subject to consultation with the manufacturer or its representative.

Initial operation

Only use clean, prepared and oiled compressed air (no oxygen or combustible gases), with a safe working pressure of
90 p.s.i. / 6.3 bar.
The compressed air must be prepared:
a) by means of a maintenance unit consisting of an air filter, reducer and auxiliary oiler
(b) via a line oiler or
c) simply by adding 5 - 10 drops of lubricating oil to the compressed air supply by hand prior to each use.
Make sure the pneumatic tool is only stored in a dry location. The compressed air hose behind the tool should not be
longer than 8 m and it should exhibit a clear diameter of 10 mm.

Utilisation

Select the cluster of needles that is suitable for the intended application and make sure that all parts are firmly con-
nected to the tool body. All screws are to be tightened securely.
Guide the compressed air needle hammer lightly over the workpiece to allow the needles to adapt the surface and do
their intended work. Do not exert any force or weight on the device, as the needles operate independently.
When machining certain surfaces and materials the device can generate dust that is harmful to your health - protect
yourself by wearing safety goggles and dust masks.
It is imperative safety goggles are worn when machining weld seams. Ear protection should be worn if elevated noise
levels are generated, such as when machining sheet metal, boilers, etc.
Protective hoods should be worn when machining surfaces that exhibit edges, cracks, depressions, etc.

Maintenance / care and assembly

Compliance with the maintenance instructions specified here will ensure a prolonged service life and trouble-free ope-
ration of this high quality product.
During continuous operation this tool is to be maintained with 5 - 10 drops of lubricating oil at regular intervals of 6 - 8
hours.
Based on our experience, and as a precautionary measure during every tool service, the outer surface of the needle
holder should be coated with a thin layer of lubricating grease, such as MOLYKOTE G RAPID or ACHESONS'S MOLY-
DAG.
