4.3 UNPACKING
1) Before taking delivery of the machine
from the shipping agent, check the condi-
tion of the crating and packing materials.
If there are clear signs of external damage,
the machine has probably been damaged as
well. If this has occurred, unpack the ma-
chine in the presence of the shipping agent
and sign the relative shipping documents,
but specify that the shipment is being ac-
cepted conditionally due to possible dam-
age. The manufacturer is not responsible
for any damage occurring during transport
or due to incorrect storage.
2) Unpack the machine using the proper
care to prevent damage. After removing the
crating and packing materials, carefully
make sure that the outside of the dryer and
the drum have not been damaged during
transport or storage. The manufacturer is
not responsible for any such damage.
Dispose of the packing materials in the
proper manner and do not let unauthorised
persons use them.
Attention: The dryer must be moved with
its pallet, only.
ATTENTION:
Do not expose the machine to harmful
environmental elements (rain, salt, brine,
etc.).
The dryer must be moved with its pallet,
only. Do not attempt to move it by push-
ing or pulling on its sides.
Make sure the dryer can be moved over
or around obstacles such as stairs, doors,
etc.
After the machine has been placed where
desired, remove the pallet and remove the
cardboard carton by pulling it upwards.
Level the machine by placing a bubble level
on its sides and front. Make sure the ma-
chine does not jiggle, and level it again
whenever it is moved.
To permit maintenance operations, leave
enough space (at least 50 cm) between the
dryer and any surrounding obstacles.
These machines do not require a founda-
tion and do not have to be anchored to the
floor.
If the machine is heated by steam, make sure
the steam control solenoid valve are in the
drum.
IMPORTANT!
CRATING AND PACKING MATERI-
ALS SUCH AS PLASTIC BAGS,
STYROFOAM,
WOOD,
BOARD, NAILS, ETC. MUST NEVER
BE LEFT WITHIN THE REACH OF
CHILDREN OR DISPOSED OF IM-
PROPERLY, SINCE THESE MATERI-
ALS MAY BE DANGEROUS. THEY
SHOULD BE STORED FOR POSSI-
BLE USE IF THE MACHINE IS
MOVED OR SHUT DOWN FOR EX-
TENDED PERIODS IN THE FUTURE
(see the chapter entitled, "Storage").
Before connecting the machine, make sure
the electrical power, gas or steam supplies
in the building conform to the specifications
listed on the identification plate. The dryer
must be employed exclusively for the use it
was designed to perform.
5. INSTRUCTIONS FOR PLACING
THE MACHINE INTO SERVICE
5.1 INSTRUCTIONS FOR POSITION-
ING THE MACHINE
The dryer may be placed on a level floor
which supports a weight of 300 kg/mt
other equipment may be placed at its sides.
The machine does not require a foundation
and does not have to be anchored to the
floor.
To prevent static discharges from damag-
ing electronic components, the dryer must
not be placed on floors covered with car-
pets, rugs or mats.
Use a spirit level to make sure the machine
is level and be sure that it does not jiggle.
If needed, use spacers to level the machine
or to stop it from jiggling. Level the ma-
chine again whenever it is moved.
5.2 SPACE REQUIRED FOR MACHINE
INSTALLATION, OPERATION AND
MAINTENANCE
The dryer must be provided with the mini-
mum space indicated in the figure.
min.500
min.500
min.100
The differential safety switch and the gate
valves on the gas or steam and condensa-
tion lines must be installed in an accessible
13
CARD-
position (no more than 3 metres away) so
they can be used quickly in case of emer-
gency.
5.3 ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
REQUIRED FOR CORRECT MA-
CHINE OPERATION
(all machine operators must be made aware
of this information)
- Type of room: closed
- Minimum temperature: 10°C
- Maximum temperature: 40°C
- Relative humidity: 75%
- Illumination: 100 lux (This specification
applies to Italy. Be sure to follow the laws
in your own country, since there are no uni-
fied regulations on illumination levels in the
workplace).
5.4 ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS
The electrical connections must be made
only by authorised personnel who meet all
legal requirements. The manufacturer is not
responsible if these procedures are per-
2
, and
formed by unauthorised personnel.
Loosen the self-threading screws and re-
move the cover panel from the sides and
back of the machine. The terminal board
for the electrical connections is located on
the upper right at the back of the machine.
Since electrically heated machines require
a great deal of current, separate connections
are provided for the main power feed (heat-
ing elements) and the auxiliary power feed
(motors and control panel). Make sure the
voltage in the building conforms to the
specifications on the machine identification
plate. The maximum voltage tolerance is
±10% from the value listed on the identifi-
cation plate.
ATTENTION
The machine must be connected to a good
ground system. A ground terminal is
provided on the terminal board for this
purpose. The ground connection must
conform to all applicable regulations, and
the manufacturer declines all responsi-
bility if accident prevention and safety
regulations are not followed.
The electrical connection must be properly
made in accordance with the power require-
ment of the machine and using the recom-
mended type of cable (see Table 1).
An automatic differential safety switch with
a minimum distance of 3 mm between the
