• The user must limit his movement to 20° vertically and horizon-
tally (figures 1.c and 1.d).
• The Blocfor™ must be protected to prevent any products from
getting into the housing (paint, sand, mud, etc.).
• Operating limits (see figure 1, page 2):
• The maximum human load which can be held by the Blocfor™
is 150 kg.
• Operating temperature limits:
+ -35°C to 50°C for the textile Blocfor™.
+ -35°C to 60°C for the stainless steel and steel wire rope
GB
Blocfor™s.
Horizontal use
Refer to the technical specifications table for the devices which
can be used horizontally or on terrace. If specified in the table, a
special webbing strap with width of 27 mm and length of 2 m
(ref. 035032) must be inserted between the device output
connector and the user (figure 2.c) .
Blocfor™ can be used without lanyard on a tubular structure with
a diameter of over 45mm.
Operating principle
In the event of a fall, the mechanism inside the Blocfor™ gra-
dually locks using a disk brake system, and the fall is stopped
smoothly with a fall value less than 6 kN. When the user is clim-
bing or descending, the lanyard is maintained tensioned by the
return spring.
The clearance H (figure 1.h, page 2) is equal to the fall height
with the Blocfor™ : 2 meters + 1 safety meter, i.e. 3 meters.
(Free space under user feet).
Warnings against hazardous operations
See figure 2, page 2
It is strictly prohibited to:
• use a device which has not been serviced in the last 12 months,
• use a device which has stopped a fall and which has not been
serviced,
• let go of the lanyard when it is not completely re-wound (figure
2.a) ,
• use a single device for fall protection of a number of people atta-
ched to the same device,
• prevent rewinding of the lanyard when it is not tensioned,
• secure the device by any means other than its anchoring point,
• hinder self-alignment of the device in relation to the lanyard,
• use the lanyard as a sling hoisting device,
• open the Blocfor™ and lubricate or oil the mechanism,
• tamper with the fall indicator.
Insofar as possible, the structural anchorage point should be
located above the user. The anchorage point must have a mini-
mum strength of 10 kN.
The connection to the anchoring point or to the structure must be
done using an EN 362 connector.
Before and during use, it is necessary to plan out how possible
rescue can be efficiently and safely conducted, within less than
15 minutes. Beyond such time, the person's life is in danger.
