General information on batteries/rechargeable batteries
Instead of a non-rechargeable 9V battery, a rechargeable 9V NiMH block can be
used. However, the lower capacity of the rechargeable battery will result in a short-
er operating time.
If you are using a rechargeable battery, we recommend you use a 9V NiMH battery
with low self-discharge.
We recommend that you use a high-quality alkaline battery in order to ensure long-
lasting and reliable operation.
• Batteries/rechargeable batteries must be kept out of the reach of children.
• Please pay attention to the correct polarity (plus/+ and minus/-) when connecting (recharge-
able) batteries. Due to the specific design of the connectors on the 9V block, incorrect con-
nection is not usually possible.
• Do not leave batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around; they could be swallowed by chil-
dren or pets. If swallowed consult a doctor immediately, it can be fatal!
• Make sure that batteries/rechargeable batteries are not short-circuited, dismantled or thrown
into a fire. There is a risk of fire and explosion!
• Old or flat batteries can leak liquid chemicals that may damage the device. Therefore, if the
device is not to be used for a long time (e.g. storage), remove the battery.
• Leaking or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries in contact with the skin can cause acid
burns; therefore, use suitable protective gloves.
• Only use a 9V block to power the product.

and the display readings disappear (approx. 4 seconds).
Switching between Temperature/Moisture and pH
There is a sliding switch (4) on the rear of the soil meter, which you use to switch between the
measured temperature/ moisture and pH value in the LC Display.
Depending on the switch position, the display shows „PH" (B) or „TEMP" (E), to indicate the
respective operating mode.
„PH" Display: pH value
„TEMP" Display: Temperature and Moisture
Switching between temperature units °C/°F
• First, select the temperature/moisture display using the sliding switch (4) on the rear.
• Briefly press the „OFF C/F" key, to switch between „°C" (degree Celsius) and „°F" (degree
