2 Installation of the ISDN telephone adapter

2.1

Removing your existing ISDN installation

The first step is to disconnect your ISDN and analog telephones as well as your
fax from your existing ISDN-NT device. You can do this yourself, if your ISDN
telephones are directly connected to the ISDN-NT device or if several ISDN-DECT
telephones (with wireless technology) are in use in your household.
The ISDN-NT device is illustrated in the following figure. Please disconnect and
remove your ISDN and analog telephones as well as your faxes.
If you have an ISDN house installation with ISDN telephones distributed around
the building, which was installed by a professional electrician/telecommunications
engineer, then please consult the latter. If you personally have the necessary
expertise, then proceed as described in chap. 3.

If you have applied to cablecom to have your existing telephone number trans-
ferred but you would like to use the digital phone service before the transfer,
without communicating your provisional number, you can automatically redirect
all incoming calls destined for your existing telephone number to your provisional
number. This facility remains active until the transfer of your number to cablecom
digital phone has been completed. The call divert must apply to each of your
phones as long as they remain connected to the ISDN-NT device. You will find
the programming instructions in chap. 6 under «Tips and tricks».
Now disconnect all telephones that are connected to your ISDN-NT device. The
ISDN-NT device is thus rendered inoperative and can be removed. Your previous
telephone provider will be able to advise you on disposal of the ISDN-NT device.
