11. Troubleshooting.

Symptom
The [PSC] key does not
make the radio scan
Constant noise output
Cannot change chan-
nels
Other vessel can contact
you but you cannot com-
municate back
LCD not displaying cor-
rectly (random Charac-
ters).
Cause
No channel SAVED into
the radio's memory
Squelch is not adjusted
KeyLock [V/L] is ON
Operating on a duplex
channel. Duplex chan-
nels are used to contract
marine operators. The
transmit and receive fre-
quencies are different
and will not allow ship-
to-ship communications.
Battery allowed to go
completely flat.

Solution
Use the [R/D] key to
memorize desired chan-
nels into the radio's
memory
Adjust the squelch to
threshold or to the point
where noise just disap-
pears.
Turn KeyLock [V/L] off
Use a simplex channel
when communicating
ship-to-ship
Reset Memory-Press
and hold UP and CLR
key, while turning the
power on.
