Press and hold [SD] key for two seconds to activate backlighting on PM-
1200 WP.
8. Maintenance
The quality of the solid-state components used in this radio will provide many
years of continuous use. However please take the following precautions to
prevent damage to the radio.
Keep the microphone jack covered at all times with the rainproof cap to
prevent corrosion of electrical contacts.
Never key the transmitter unless an antenna or suitable dummy load is con-
nected to the antenna receptacle.
Use only approved battery packs, accessories and replacement parts.
Do not fully discharge the battery frequently or battery damage may result.
Do not connect the transceiver via the (CHARGE) jack to an AC outlet or to
a power source of more than 13 V DC. These connections will ruin the trans-
ceiver.
When charging from AC outlet, use only the charger provided do not
use any other charging device as it may damage your radio.
Avoid the use of chemical agents, such as benzine or alcohol, when cleaning
as they can damage the transceiver surface.
8.1. Battery Care.
The battery, under normal conditions, can be recharged up to 300 times. In
order to ensure you get the maximum battery life from this unit, it is important
to follow the instructions below:
Avoid overcharging. Charging times of empty batteries shouldn't exceed 12
hours.
Normal charging time should be 8-10 hours.
When using the unit regularly, it is advisable to completely discharge the
battery every 6 - 8 weeks then fully recharge it before using it again.
