Installing the electrical kit
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. If necessary, remove the following coverings and panels:

In the luggage trunk
Covering of luggage trunk bottom

Covering of the rear end plate
-
Covering of the left side of the luggage trunk
-

From the rear end plate
Covering for the cable leadthrough on the left-hand side

3. Lay the cable end with the 4- and 6-pin plug from the outside through the cable leadthrough.
Lay the other end to the socket holder plate (Fig. 1/7).
4. Insert the rubber grommet into the cable leadthrough (Fig. 1/5).

5. Press the contact insert into the socket housing and push the rubber grommet towards the
socket. Make sure that the contact insert locks into place!
6. Screw the socket onto the holding plate (Fig. 1/7) using the supplied screws and nuts.
7. Secure the cable harness using cable ties.
Connecting the trailer control module
8. W211: If the control unit holder A 211 545 63 40 is not installed in the vehicle, it has to be
ordered from a licensed dealer and installed in its intended position.
9. Screw the trailer control module (Fig. 1/3) on this holder.
10. Alternatively, the trailer control module can also be fastened in a suitable position using the
velcro tape supplied.
11. Screw the two brown cables with the eyelets to the vehicle's ground point (Fig. 1/4) near the
left tail light.
12. Connect the 4- and 6-pin plug of the socket cable harness and the 4- and 8-pin plug of the
supplied cable harness of the vehicle's electrical system to the trailer control module (Fig.
1/3).
13. Plug the violet 5-pin plug into the violet port on the vehicle's SAM control unit (Fig. 1/1).
14. Plug two fuse holders (turquoise and black) into ports 17 and 18 of the vehicle's fuse carrier,
taking into account the colour coding.
15. Insert the 20 A fuse into the turquoise fuse holder and the 25 A fuse into the black fuse
holder.
