continuously to the right or left. As the instrument gradually detects metallic objects,
the metal icon will appear on the screen. If the sound of the device is enabled, it will
indicate «metal» as the instrument approaches metal.
When metal components and electrical signals are detected at the same time, (Fig. H)
the instrument will emit a succession of rapid «beep, beep, beep...» sounds.
When the alternating current symbol appears on the screen, this indicates that
alternating current is nearby.
Warnings
In some cases, the device is not able to accurately detect live wires in walls. Therefore,
do not rely solely on the instrument to identify the presence of dangerous live wires.
Other evidence such as architectural and construction drawings or visual identification
of wiring and pipe entry points are required.
If there are live wires in the wall, do not perform any dangerous manipulations. Switch
off the power, gas and water supply before drilling into the surface.
Reinforced concrete, brick and ceramic surfaces can create interference.
Electrical signals are more easily detected when the conductor is supplied with power.
The «live wire» signal propagates on both sides of the actual wire so that the «live wire»
area appears much larger than the actual wire.
The electrical signal comes mainly from live wires, but it can also come from static
electricity in the environment. Placing your hand on the wall next to the detector can
help eliminate static electricity.
The signal strength of the live wire depends on the location of the cable. Therefore,
take other measurements nearby or use other features and information to check for live
wires.
Wires that are not live may be detected as metallic objects. Very thin wires may not be
detected.
Detection of foreign bodies in wood (screws, staples, cables)
Maximum detection depth: normal mode: 20mm, deep mode: 38mm.
Briefly press the (A-Fig.A) button to enter the wood detection mode. To switch from
normal mode to deep mode, press and hold down the (A-Fig.A) button. The depth
displayed on the screen changes.
The foreign object detection mode will detect objects in plasterboard and drywall,
plywood, solid wood and coated wood walls.
The foreign object detection mode does not detect objects in concrete, mortar, pieces,
bricks, carpets/mats, sheets, metal surfaces, tiles, glass or any other material of an
uneven density.
The depth and accuracy of sensitivity varies depending on moisture content, material
content, wall texture and paint.
