4.5. Medium temperature after autoclaving

the microjet sterilizer cools down the medium in the contain-
er to <100°c, so it can be removed in a safe way. in the case
of larger volumes (>250 ml), it can happen that a part of the
flask capacity (surface layer) might have a slightly higher tem-
perature than 100°c (over-heating), then if the flask is moved
in a rapid, swift way, the liquid may boil over. thus, especially
in the case of dense media and large volumes, the operator
should not mix the flask contents directly after removing from
once the heating is completed, the
cooling process starts with simulta-
neous pressure release.
the entire process runs automatical-
ly. - at the end, the display shows:
STERILIZATION COMPLETE, SAFE TO
oPen. the lid can be opened now
and the flask removed. be careful –
the flask is hot (about 90°c).
