For your safety
1.1
Follow the Instructions for Use.
Users must be familiar with the Instructions for Use and must
follow them exactly before any work on the transmitter.
The transmitter is intended for the specified use only.
1.2
Maintenance
The transmitter must be inspected and serviced regularly by
trained service personnel. Transmitter maintenance by trained
service personnel only.
Contact DrägerService if you wish to take out a service
contract for qualified maintenance and repair services. Use
only genuine Dräger spare parts and accessories for repairs.
See the "Maintenance intervals" chapter.
1.3
Accessories
Use only the accessories listed in the order list.

Intended use
Dräger Polytron 2000 transmitter for electrochemical
1
sensors
For stationary continuous monitoring of gas concentrations
in the ambient air in accordance with the integrated
DrägerSensor MEC sensor.
For indoor and outdoor applications.
For connection to Dräger central controllers or a
Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) to warn of gas
concentrations that could damage health.
The optional display on the transmitter shows the current
gas concentration and simplifies calibration.
A special maintenance mode suppresses false alarms
during calibration by sending a maintenance signal.

Device concept
Polytron 2000 is intended for connection to the Dräger
Polytron, Regard, QuadGard or Unigard central controllers.
The Polytron 2000 transmitter can also be connected to other
central controllers under the following conditions:
Industry standard 4 to 20 mA input signal
Operating voltage at transmitter 12 to 30 V DC.
On delivery, Polytron 2000 is configured for the specified gas
and measuring range. This information is shown on a label
below the service port and on the back of the measurement
module. The order number of the required sensor is also
shown.

Optional equipment includes:
Line and duct adapter (duct extension)
To attach the Polytron 2000 transmitter to a duct.
For gas measurement in the duct or in a ventilation and
intake duct.

Installation
The Dräger Polytron 2000 transmitter has two main components:
The Dräger Docking Station can be preinstalled on any
structure and contains the electrical installation components.
The Dräger Polytron 2000 measurement module contains
the transmitter electronics.
Installation of the Docking Station and the measurement
module is described in separate installation instructions.
4.1
Preparing the installation
The selection of a suitable mounting location is crucial for the
effectiveness and performance of the entire system.
Note the following for installation:
The local rules and regulations for the installation of gas
measuring systems.
The applicable regulations for running and connecting
power and signal cables.
The full extent of environmental influences to which the
device will be subjected (environmental conditions: see
technical data, page 15).
The physical properties of the gases and vapors to be
measured:
For gases with a lower density than air the transmitter must be
positioned above a potential leakage point or at the highest
point at which higher concentrations of gas could accumulate.
For gases and vapors with a higher density than air the
transmitter must be positioned below a potential leakage
point or at the lowest point at which these gases and vapors
could accumulate.
The specific applications (e.g., potential leaks, air conditions,
etc.).
The accessibility for required maintenance (see installation
instructions for the Polytron Docking Station).
All other limiting factors and stipulations that may affect the
performance and installation of the system (e.g. vibration,
temperature fluctuations).
A sun shield is recommended for strong sunlight.
The transmitter is tested for weather resistance and is suitable
for installation outdoors. A splash guard is recommended to
protect the sensor from spray, dust and wind.
