About the unit
How do ultrasonic cleaners work?
Ultrasonic cleaning is widely used in many
industrial applications, the jewellery indus-
try and in the medical sector. All hard ma-
terials can be cleaned using ultrasound.
Even tough stains or dirt in difficult-to-
access locations can be removed in an en-
vironmentally friendly way.
An ultrasonic generator converts electric
power into mechanical vibrations. The ge-
nerated sound waves are in the ultrasound
range, outside the range audible to human
ears.

Ultrasonic cleaning always takes place in a
liquid medium (for example, water with
cleaning agent). The vibrations have a pe-
riodic effect on the cleaning fluid, thus
transferring the energy.
This results in microscopic vacuum bub-
bles (cavitation bubbles) in the liquid,
which implode on the item to be cleaned
and thus create the cleaning effect.
All locations on the item immersed for
cleaning that are accessible by water are
cleaned. For heavy or tough stains, it may
be necessary to carry out several clean-
ings.
