Playing the input source

1 Either turn the FUNCTION/SELECT dial on the main unit or
press the FUNCTION button on the remote control unit to
select the input source you want to play.

• The function switches as shown below.
• The function only changes in the "Æ" direction when
operated from the remote control unit.

2 If "DVD", "TV/DBS" or "V.AUX" is selected as the input
source, press the INPUT MODE button on the remote
control unit to select the input mode.
AUTO PCM
• "ANALOG" cannot be selected when "DVD" is selected as
the input source.
Input mode selection function
This can be selected for the "DVD", "TV/DBS" and
"V.AUX" input sources.
Different input modes can be selected for the different
input sources. The selected input modes for the separate
input sources are stored in the memory.
q AUTO (auto mode)
In this mode, the types of signals being input to the digital
and analog input jacks for the selected input source are
detected and the program in the ADV-700's surround
decoder is selected automatically upon playback.

The presence or absence of digital signals is detected, the
signals input to the digital input are identified and decoding
and playback are performed automatically in DTS, Dolby
Digital or PCM (2 channel stereo) format. If no digital signal
(TV DRS and V.AUX) is being input, the analog input jacks
are selected.
Use this mode to play Dolby Digital signals.
w PCM (exclusive PCM signal playback mode)
Decoding and playback are only performed when PCM
signals are being input.
Note that noise may be generated when using this mode
to play signals other than PCM signals.
e DTS (exclusive DTS signal playback mode)
Decoding and playback are only performed when DTS
signals are being input.
r ANALOG (exclusive analog audio signal playback mode)
The signals input to the analog input jacks are decoded and
played.
(This cannot be selected in the DVD mode.)
NOTE:
• The input mode is automatically set to "AUTO" when the input
is switched to DVD.
3 Either press the SURROUND MODE button on the main unit
then turn the FUNCTION/SELECT dial or press the
SURROUND button on the remote control unit to select the
play mode.
