SWITCHING OFF
Your kettle has an automatic ON/OFF switch and will switch
itself off automatically as soon as the water boils.
You can switch off the kettle at any time by raising the ON/OFF
switch (3) for 1.5l and by pressing down again for 0.5l and 1.0l.
Note: The kettle cannot be switched off by hand if the switch
is not free to move, or if the ON/OFF switch is pressed down.
POURING OUT WATER
To remove the kettle from the base unit (4), hold it by its han-
dle. Ensure that the kettle body remains level while lifting it
from the base unit (4).
Pour the water from the spout with the lid (1) closed.
Note: Please take care when pouring out water as boiling
water can cause scalds.
SWITCHING THE KETTLE ON AGAIN
If the kettle was switched off by hand, it can be switched on
again at any time.
You may switch the kettle on again as soon as the built-in
thermal safety cut-off switch has had sufficient time to cool.
Note: Ensure that the ON/OFF switch is able to move freely
(just 1.5l). The ON/OFF switch of kettle (0.5l and 1.0l) doesn't
move freely.
MAINTENANCE
SCALE FILTER
AND CARE
Scale, or calcium, is a natural substance that forms when
hard water is boiled. The filter serves to retain the calcium in
the water kettle.
CLEANING AND REMOVAL OF THE FILTER
It is important to clean the filter regularly. The filter clips into
the jug and can be removed by pulling it upwards from the
jug. It can be cleaned by gentle brushing with a soft brush
under running water.
KETTLE CLEAN AND DESCALE
Remove scale using either a proprietary de-scaling product
suitable for plastic kettles (following the instructions care-
fully), or citrid acid.

We recommend using citric acid as follows:
1.5 litres/51fl.oz Kettle: Boil 1.0 litres/34fl.oz of water, then
unplug the kettle and stand it in an empty sink or bowl. Add
50gm of citric acid crystals gradually, then leave the kettle to
stand.
1.0 litres/34fl.oz Kettle: Boil 1.0 litres/34fl.oz of water, then
unplug the kettle and stand it in an empty sink or bowl. Add
50gm of citric acid crystals gradually, then leave the kettle to
stand.
0.5 litres/17fl.oz Kettle: Boil 0.5 litres/17fl.oz of water, then
unplug the kettle and stand it in an empty sink or bowl. Add
25gm of citric acid crystals gradually, then leave the kettle to
stand.
As soon as the effervescence subsides, empty the kettle and
rinse it thoroughly with cold water. Wipe the outside of the
kettle thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove all traces of
citric acid which may damage the finish.
Do not use a more concentrated solution. Ensure that the
electrical connections are completely dry before using the
kettle. Citric acid crystals are available at most chemists.
Failure to de-scale may invalidate the guarantee.
Never use chemicals, steel wool or abrasive agents to clean
the exterior of the kettle.
Only clean the appliance using a damp cloth.
Never immerse the item in water: remember this is an electri-
cal applicant.
STORAGE
Excessive cord length can be stored on the cord retainer (5)
in the base unit (4).
Note: Ensure that the mains power supply is switched off
when you are not using the kettle.
Any other servicing should be performed by an authorized
service representative.
