6 Getting in and out of the
wheelchair (transfer)
Do not stand on the foot-plates. These
have not been designed to
accommodate the full weight of a
person. In addition, this could cause
the wheelchair to topple over.
Forward transfer
1. Flip the footplates up (fig 6.1)..
2. If possible, swing the legrests to the
side (fig 6.2).
3. Seat yourself in the chair.
Sideways transfer (fig 6.3).
1. Loosen the bolt.
2. Take the armrest out.
3. Seat yourself in the chair.
