REPLACING THE TINES
See Figures 11 - 13.
With normal use, tines can wear or break over time. When
adjusting the tine depth no longer gives you the correct
amount of dethatching, or if a tine breaks, follow the steps
below to replace.
Disconnect the dethatcher from the power supply.
Turn dethatcher over to access the tine cylinder.
Remove two screws, flat washers, lock washers, and
8 mm nuts securing the tine you wish to replace to the
cylinder.
Using a flat blade screwdriver, press down on the lock-
ing tab to release the tine housing from the dethatching
cylinder.
Secure the tine cartridge on a workbench, then press the
securing pin from one side of the housing to slide out.
This will release the tine so it can be replaced.
NOTE: Removing the pin may require the use of a rubber
mallet.
Install new tine, being sure to orient in the same direction
as the old. Press securing pin back through tine housing
and new tine to secure.
Reinstall tine housing on dethatcher cylinder, again being
careful to orient the tine in the same direction as the
others.
NOTE: Make sure the tine housing is fully seated and the
locking tab is secure in the opening on the tine housing.
Reinstall screws, flat washers, lock washers, and nuts in
the order previously removed. Tighten securely.
MAINTENANCE
STORING THE DETHATCHER
Disconnect the dethatcher from the power supply.
Turn dethatcher on its side and clean any accumulated
debris from the underside of the housing.
Wipe the dethatcher clean with a dry cloth.
Check all nuts, bolts, knobs, screws, fasteners, etc., for
tightness.
Inspect moving parts for damage, breakage, and wear.
Have repairs made on any damaged or missing parts.
To lower the handle before storing, fully loosen the handle
knobs on the insides of the handle and fold the upper
handle down, making sure not to bend or kink the power
cord.
Store dethatcher indoors in a clean, dry place out of the
reach of children.
Do not store near corrosive materials such as fertilizer or
rock salt.
