2.0 The Data Plate explained
The data plate is a requirement for all elevator buffers to comply with the various code authorities around the world. The
data plate must display the following information about the buffer: Buffer Name, Stroke, Safety Codes to which the buffer
conforms, Max. Strike Speed, Mass Impact Load, Min Impact Load, Year and Month of Manufacture, Oil Specification and in
the case of gas being used a Gas Specification.
Various information is required from authorities worldwide but Oleo has limited this to produce the most standard data
plate possible.
Figure 1 highlights the requirements for the data plate.
