Un appareil PROFINET possède toujours au moins une connexion Industrial Ethernet. Il
peut avoir en plus une connexion PROFIBUS, à savoir en tant que maître à fonction proxy.
Définition : appareils PROFIBUS
Un appareil PROFIBUS possède au moins une connexion PROFIBUS et une interface
électrique (RS485) ou une interface optique (Polymer Optical Fiber, POF).
Un appareil PROFIBUS ne peut pas participer directement à la communication PROFINET,
mais il doit y être intégré au moyen d'un maître PROFIBUS doté d'une connexion
PROFINET ou via une passerelle Industrial Ethernet/PROFIBUS (IE/PB-Link) à fonction
proxy.
