PRS-1030 (RETRACTOR)
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
This retractor is intended for use on the patient with redundant tissue (i.e., panniculus), which potentially
will interfere with surgical exposure. The retractor will allow the surgeon to retract redundant tissue out
of the operative field. Notice the "HOLD HERE" and "PULL HERE" tabs. Use these areas to manipulate the
retractor during application. No adhesive will be exposed at these locations when the backing is removed
correctly. Tabs A, B and C are to be removed sequentially. The arrow and "MIDLINE" marks are guides to
assist in orientation. The widest part of the device is to be placed on the panniculus with the midline arrow
pointing toward the patient's head.
Traxi is supplied sterile and can be applied aseptically or as a "positioner" prior to prepping the patient.
If the patient is prepped before applying traxi, allow the prep sufficient time to dry before applying traxi.
Applying the Retractor:
1. If necessary, manually retract panniculus to expose the surgical site. Remove tab "A" and position the
retractor 5cm above the incision line. Apply to patient.
2. Remove "B" panels. Hold in tension while smoothing onto patient's skin from midline out.
3. Fold back the device and relax the panniculus back to normal position. Remove "C" panel by
simultaneously pulling "C" tabs.
4. Using the "HOLD HERE" and "PULL HERE" tabs, together, in tension, lift toward the ceiling and pull the
retractor cephalad. When the desired retraction is obtained, apply to patient's xiphoid or sternum.
NOTE: Retraction should now be optimal. If the panniculus is not retracted prior to applying panel "C",
retraction will not be optimal. Therefore apply "C" after retraction, not before, as it will not be as effective.
Warnings, Precautions & Contraindications:
• Skin conditions should be assessed for integrity before affixing retractor to the dermis
• Before applying to the surface of the skin, the skin must be clean, dry, free of all gels, liquids, grease,
creams, etc
• Do not place over the patient's airways.
• Do not place over abrasions, contusions, rashes or any open breaks in the dermis.
• Not to be used intra-wound
• Do not leave on patient longer than 24 hours
• Remove slowly while supporting the skin
• Do not cut or modify this device
• Do not re-apply to the patient—single use only
• Discard and dispose of properly after use

INSTRUCCIONES DE USO
Este retractor está indicado para usarse en pacientes con tejido sobrante (p. ej., panículo) que pueda
interferir con la exposición quirúrgica. El retractor permite al cirujano separar el tejido sobrante para
apartarlo del campo quirúrgico. Observe las pestañas "HOLD HERE" y "PULL HERE". Use estas zonas para
manipular el retractor durante la aplicación. Si la lámina de soporte se retira correctamente, no quedará
adhesivo expuesto en esos lugares. Las pestañas A, B y C se deben retirar secuencialmente. La flecha y
la marca "MIDLINE" ayudar a orientar la unidad. La parte más ancha del dispositivo debe colocarse en el
panículo con la flecha de la línea central apuntando hacia la cabeza del paciente.
El traxi se suministra estéril y se puede aplicar de forma aséptica o como un "posicionador" antes de
preparar al paciente. Si se prepara al paciente antes de aplicar el traxi, permitir a la preparación suficiente
tiempo para secarse antes de aplicar el traxi.
Aplicación del retractor:
1. Si es necesario, separe con la mano el panículo para exponer el lecho quirúrgico. Retire la pestaña "A" y sitúe
el retractor 5 cm por encima de la línea de incisión. Aplíquelo al paciente.
2. Retire los paneles "B". Mantenga en tensión mientras lo extiende sobre la piel del paciente desde la línea
media hacia fuera.
3. Doble hacia atrás el dispositivo y relaje el panículo de vuelta a la posición normal. Retire el panel "C" tirando
simultáneamente de las pestañas "C".
4. Use las pestañas "HOLD HERE" y "PULL HERE", juntas, en tensión, levante hacia el techo y tire del retractor
hacia la cabeza. Cuando obtenga la retracción deseada, aplique al xifoides o al esternón del paciente.
NOTA: La separación debería ser óptima. Si el panículo no se separa antes de aplicar el panel "C", la separación
no será óptima. Por tanto, aplique el panel "C" después de la separación, no antes, ya que no sería eficaz.
Advertencias, precauciones y contraindicaciones:
• Deben valorarse las afecciones cutáneas para comprobar la integridad de la piel antes de fijar el retractor
a la dermis.
• Antes de aplicarlo en la superficie de la piel, esta debe estar limpia, seca y sin ningún gel, liquido,
lubricante, crema, etc.
• No colocar encima de las vías respiratorias del paciente
• No colocar sobre abrasiones, contusiones, erupciones o cualquier herida abierta en la dermis
• El producto no debe usarse dentro de heridas.
• No dejar colocado en el paciente más de 24 horas.
• Retire el producto despacio mientras sujeta la piel.
• No corte ni modifique de forma alguna este dispositivo.
• No vuelva a aplicar el producto al paciente, es de un solo uso.
• Deseche el producto conforme a la normativa después del uso.
