If the unit is to be put out of operation de fini -
tively, take it to a local recycling plant for a
disposal which is not harmful to the environ-
ment.

3 Applications

The scanner is suited for applications on stage, in
discothèques, clubs, and party rooms. It is equipped
with 52 extra bright LEDs which create changing light
patterns. Via the rotating mirror, these patterns will be
projected onto the illuminated surface. The unit is de -
signed for control via a DMX light control unit and has
4 DMX control channels.
As an alternative to DMX operation, the scanner
also allows operation by music control via the inte -
grated microphone. In this case, the remote control
LC-3 or FSC-3 (both available as accessories) offering
further control functions can be used in addition.
4 Mounting
The unit can be mounted via its bracket (1) with a sup-
port for lighting units (C-hook) or a stable mounting
screw (e. g. to a cross arm or onto a stand). To position
the unit, release the two locking screws (2) on the
bracket, adjust the desired inclination of the unit, then
fasten the screws again.
WARNING Mount the unit safely and expertly. If it is
installed as a suspended load above
persons, it must additionally be secured
(e. g. by a safety rope to the mounting
bracket; fasten the safety rope in such a
way that the maximum falling distance
of the unit will be limited to 20 cm).
5 Operation
Connect the mains cable supplied to the jack POWER
(3) and the plug to a mains socket (230 V~/50 Hz).
Thus, the unit is switched on; the red power LED (9)
will light up. The mirror will go to a defined starting
position and the control will be reset.
WARNING Never look directly into the LEDs; you
may damage your eyes.
Please note that stroboscopic effects
and very fast colour changes may trig-
ger epileptic seizures with photosensi-
tive persons and persons with epilepsy!
To switch off the unit, disconnect the mains plug from
the socket.
For a more convenient operation, it is recommend -
ed to connect the unit to a mains socket which is
switched on and off via a light switch.

5.1 Music control

Via the DIP switches (10), set the unit to master mode:
set switch No. 1 to the lower position and switches 2
to 9 to the upper position (the position of switch No. 10
is irrelevant):

Master mode
If music is played at sufficient volume with a clear
rhythm in the bass range, the changes of the light
patterns and the mirror movements will be synchro-
n ized with the rhythm of the music via the microphone
(4) on the rear side of the unit; the green LED (11) will
flicker to the beat of the music. If no music is played or
if the music is too calm or if its volume is too low, the
unit will only change the patterns at fixed intervals and
the green LED will light constantly.
In case the music control does not work optimally,
modify the music volume or the distance between the
speaker and the scanner.
Note: For music control via the microphone, there
must be no DMX signal at the DMX INPUT (6).
5.1.1 Interconnecting several scanners
Several SCAN-12LED units may be interconnected in
order to control all slave units to the same rhythm via
the microphone of the master unit.
1) Set the DIP switches Nos. 1 to 9 (10) on the master
unit according to fig. 3 (master mode).
2) Set the DIP switches Nos. 1 to 9 on the slave units
differently to the master unit (slave mode); the posi-
tion of the individual switches is irrelevant in this
case. DIP switch No. 10 has a special function:
With the switch in the lower position the correspond-
ing scanner will operate with inverse movements,
i. e. its mirror will not move in sync with that of the
master unit, but opposite to it.
3) Connect the DMX OUTPUT (7) of the master unit
via a 3-pole XLR cable (e. g. MEC-... or MECN-...
series from the "img Stage Line" product range) to
the DMX INPUT (6) of the first slave unit.
4) Connect the DMX OUTPUT of the first slave unit to
the DMX INPUT of the second slave unit, etc.
5.1.2 Remote control LC-3 / FSC-3
The remote controls LC-3 (fig. 2) and FSC-3 (foot
remote control; same functions as LC-3) available as
accessories allow control of further functions.
1) Connect the remote control to the jack ONLY FOR
REMOTE CONTROL (8).
2) Set the DIP switches Nos. 1 to 9 (10) according to
fig. 3 (master mode).
3) Via the DMX OUTPUT (7), further SCAN-12LED
units may be connected in order to control them
together as slave units via the remote control
(→ chapter 5.1.1).
