General
Thermometer types TE30 and TE31 are battery-operated resistance thermometers with a digital
display. This device series is designed for autonomous operation.
The TE30 series is equipped with a rigid sensor and is therefore used directly at the measuring point.
Various process connections are possible depending on the design of the temperature sensor.
The TE31 series has a flexible cable for connecting the thermometer to the temperature sensor.
This allows the meter to be installed independently of the measuring point. To facilitate installation,
the cable can be disconnected from the device at the plug connection. Here, too, different process
connections are possible depending on the design of the temperature sensor.
1.0 Installation and commissioning
The temperature measuring point must be prepared according to the specifications for thread
ports. Further information can be found on e.g. page 3 of VDE/VDI Guidelines 3511 and 3512.
Gaskets according to DIN 7603A are suitable for sealing. The correct tightening torque depends
on the material and shape of the gasket used as well as on the type and size of connection screw.
We recommend that the installation location be chosen so as to be as free as possible from vibra-
tions and thermal radiation. For safe operation, an ambient temperature of -10...0...+60°C must
be maintained.
The user must ensure that the process connection and the display area meet the measuring point
requirements. The design of the temperature sensors is based on EN13190. We recommend the
use of a thermowell according to DIN43772. With thermometer type TE31, the connection cable
of the temperature sensor must not be laid over sharp edges and there must be no risk of crush-
ing the connection cable. In addition, the connection cable should not be installed under tensile
stress. Damage to the cable can lead to the malfunction of the thermometer.
Caution! Only use suitable tools for assembly.
2.0 Power supply
The thermometer is delivered ready for use and is equipped with a size AA 3.6 V lithium battery.
The battery has a service life of approx. 5 - 7 years, depending on the application and ambient
conditions.
3.0 Maintenance
The thermometer described here is maintenance-free. Depending on operating conditions, the
thermometer should be regularly checked for compliance with its specifications. Repairs must be
carried out exclusively in the manufacturer's factory.
3.1 Cleaning
Do not use solvent-containing cleaners to clean the device.
