Macro Ring Fash MRF 3500 to the CULLMANN
D 3500 fl ash unit which you require as a control
unit for the Macro Ring Fash MRF 3500. Both
of the fl ash units will otherwise be affected by
functional disturbances!
• Check the fi lter diameter of the lens.
• Rotate the correct lens adapter ring into the
interior thread of your lens by rotating it
clockwise.
• Push in the release tabs on both sides of the
ring fl ash and now push the unit onto the lens
adapter ring. Now let go of both of the release
tabs. The correct position can be set by rotating
the ring fl ash unit.
• You can only use the CULLMANN Macro Ring
Flash MRF 3500 with the CULLMANN D 3500 as
a control unit (D 3500 C for Canon; D 3500 N for
Nikon)
• Turn the knurled screw of the D 3500 fl ash unit
upwards – in the direction of the fl ash unit and
then push the fl ash unit into the device shoe on
your camera.
• In order to securely fi x the fl ash unit to your
camera, turn the knurled screw on the fl ash unit
down again.
• Now connect both of the units together by
inserting the connector from the Macro Ring
Fash MRF 3500 into the socket in the D 3500
fl ash unit provided for this purpose.
NOTE:
With some lenses, the front or other parts can
rotate during focussing. The mounting of the
Macro Ring Flash MRF 3500 unit on such lenses
using a lens adapter ring can possibly impair the
focussing and thereby possibly cause damage
to the lens and Macro Ring Fash MRF 3500. We
therefore recommend at you use the lens in
manual mode when using such lenses.
Removing the Macro Ring Fash MRF 3500
CAUTION!
The power supply for the D 3500 fl ash unit has
to be disconnected before the Macro Ring Flash
MRF 3500 is removed. Both of the fl ash units will
otherwise be affected by functional disturbances!
• Switch off both the D3500 fl ash unit and the
camera.

• Remove the Macro Ring Fash MRF 3500
connector from the socket in the CULLMANN
D 3500 fl ash unit.
Press both of the release tabs on both sides of
the ring fl ash and now push the device outward
over the lens adapter ring.
• Now let go of both of the release tabs.
• Now screw the lens adapter ring off your lens.
• To remove the CULLMANN D 3500 fl ash unit
from your camera, turn the knurled screw of the
fl ash unit upwards in the direction of the fl ash
and then pull the fl ash unit from the device shoe
on your camera.
Using the Macro Ring Flash MRF 3500
After you have mounted the Macro Ring Flash
MRF 3500 and the D 3500 fl ash unit in accordance
with the instructions – page 19 "Connecting the
Macro Ring Flash MRF 3500", switch the D 3500
fl ash unit on. The read standby lamp illuminates
after the charging process has been completed.
NOTE!
If the battery voltage of the D 3500 fl ash unit
which serves as a control unit for the macro ring
fl ash, should be too low, this will not work cor-
rectly. You should therefore replace the batteries
if the standby lamp should not illuminated 30
seconds after activation.
Bring the object you are taking a photo of into
focus and then press the shutter release on your
camera. After the macro ring fl ash has been
triggered, "Auto OK" is displayed on the back of
the unit.
Use of the D 3500 fl ash unit as an
additional source of lighting
In addition to acting as the control unit for the
Macro Ring Flash MRF 3500, the CULLMANN
D 3500 also serves as an additional source of
lighting. The unit is switched on and off with the
switch on the front. If this switch is pushed down,
the D 3500 fl ashes together with the connected
Macro Ring Flash MRF 3500. The illumination of
the photography situation is improved greatly.
To switch the D 3500 off, simply push the switch
back up.
