5.3 Lateral and Bennett movement (07)
If the centric lock is open, the lateral movements can be perfor-
med as shown in the figure. This is done by applying backward
pressure with the thumb on one side on the appropriate joint.
5.4 Immediate Side Shift (ISS) (08)
If the centric lock is open, the immediate side shift can be per-
formed as shown in the figure. This is done by pressing in the
transverse direction on one side with the index finger.
5.5 Retrusive movement (09)
A retrusive movement can only be performed if the centric
lock and the retrusion lock are open. This opens the way for
retrusive movement.
6 Practical Application of Model Orientation
6.1 Dentulous or edentulous case with
rubber band (average value)
• Set up the appliance as described under 4.2.
• The notches in the side columns and the circular
groove on the vertical guide rod can be used to
orient the occlusal plane.
• Place the plaster on the mounting plate and base block, and
slowly close the articulator. Next, fit a thin rubber band. Then
attach it around the columns, in the notches and beneath the
longer part of the incisal pointer.
• Align the occlusal plane with the rubber band.
• Align the incisal pointer between the mandibular central in-
cisors or on the wax rim with the respective mark. Ideally, fix
the lower model with modelling material and align. Finally,
cast the upper model in plaster.
7 Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning
The CA 3.0 is a precision instrument and should only be steam-
cleaned. If no steam-jet equipment is available, it should be rinsed
off with clean, hot water. All contact with strong acids and solvents
and cleaning with ultrasonic equipment are to be avoided. Do
not scrape the surface of the appliance with sharp objects.
7.2 Maintenance checks (10)
How often these checks need to be carried out will depend on
the intensity of use and the user's working methods. For this
reason, the stated frequency should only be taken as a guide.
Check:
for cracks and signs of damage
Part:
O ring seal
Frequency:
Once a month
How to replace: • Open centric lock, and open and
tighten retrusion lock
• With the articulator open and lying on its
side, slip the O ring seal over the joint axle
from the outside and push over the guide
edges using a blunt instrument.
• Fit O ring seal
7.3 Repairs
The warranty will become null and void if any attempts at re-
pair are performed within the warranty period by anyone other
than a qualified Candulor service centre. Only original Candulor
spare parts and accessories may be used.
