11. Advice on operation

a) General information
To successfully go "treasure hunting", you need to know how your metal detector reacts to different metals, their position and
distance when detecting. Therefore, perform various tests with different metals and different recording angles at home.
Do not set up your test on a house floor because these usually contain steel or iron. We recommend a wood table on which you
can put different objects.
Detect individual objects such as watches, rings, old iron, etc... Remember the associated optical and acoustic signals. Practice
until you can interpret the visual and acoustic signals clearly and without mistakes.
b) Correct movements
The correct movements must be practised as well. For the best search results, proceed as follows:
• Search your target area in a previously specified route by walking in semi-circles.
• Swivel the search probe approx. 3 - 5 cm flat above the ground at an even height if possible.
Never move the search probe as if it was a pendulum. Lifting the search probe in a swing or at
the end will falsify the measuring results.
• Perform your movements slowly to detect all possible objects.
• You will be able to localise an object precisely with some exercise. If the detector finds a
concealed object, move the search probe in increasingly smaller "X"-shaped motions (see fig-
ure). Remember the precise point on the ground where the detector beeped. Hold the search
probe precisely over this point. Move the search probe forward and backward a few times and
remember again where the detector produces a signal. Encircle the find systematically with
increasingly small movements.
The stronger the indication at the display unit, the larger the object or, in case of small objects, the less deeply it is
embedded in the ground.
The display unit will show the strongest indication at valuable metals. When a search signal is not displayed several
times in sequence with a high indication at the display unit while searching objects if you pass the site of the find sev-
eral times, you have probably only found scrap metal.
