Some tools will be needed for assembly. Discard the container according to the applicable local environmental requirement. Remove the mower from the container. Page 9 SAFETY 3 3.1 HOW TO OPERATE SAFELY __________________________________________________ WARNING EQUIPMENT OPERATED INCORRECTLY OR WITHOUT TRAINING CAN BE DANGEROUS. Know the location and correct operation of controls. Operators without experience must receive instruction from another person that knows the correct operation of the equipment before you operate the mower. Only use parts, accessories and attachments approved by Jacobsen.
Page 10 3 SAFETY 3.1.3 Operation Never operate the engine without enough ventilation or in an enclosed area. The carbon monoxide in the exhaust fumes can increase to dangerous levels. Never carry passengers. Keep other persons or animals away from the mower. Disengage all drives and engage the parking brake before you start the engine.
Page 11 SAFETY 3 3.1.4 Safe Handling of Fuels The fuel and the fuel vapors are flammable. Use caution when you add the fuel to the mower. The fuel vapors can cause an explosion. Never use the containers that are not approved to keep or transfer fuel. Never keep the mower or fuel containers near an open flame or any device that can cause the ignition of fuel or fuel vapors.
Page 12 3 SAFETY Keep the mower and the engine clean. Allow the engine to become cool before storage and always remove the ignition key. Keep all nuts, bolts and screws tight to make sure the equipment is in safe condition. Replace worn or damaged parts for safety. Replace damaged or worn decals. Only use parts, accessories and attachments approved by Jacobsen.

Page 34 OPERATION 7.1 DAILY INSPECTION ___________________________________________________ CAUTION Make sure that the Engine and exhaust are cold. Do not check with the engine warm. Engage the parking brake and make sure the cutting cylinders are stopped. Check the complete unit. Look for worn or loose hardware, missing or damaged components, fuel or oil leaks.
Page 35 7 OPERATION 7.2 OPERATOR PRESENCE AND SAFETY INTERLOCK SYSTEM _________________ The OPC system controls the primary drive clutch. You can start the engine, but the drive will not engage until the OPC system is in operation (See 6.1). The machine will not drive until the OPC is engaged. To engage the Cutting cylinder, operate the lever (F See 6.5).
Page 36 OPERATION 7.3 OPERATING PROCEDURE _____________________________________________ CAUTION To prevent injury, always wear eye protection, leather work shoes or boots, a hard hat and ear protection. Do not start the engine with the OPC system engaged. Do not operate the machine or attachments with loose, damaged or missing components. Mow when the grass is dry Mow a test area to understand the operation of the machine and control levers.
Page 37 7 OPERATION CAUTION Disengage the drives, engage the parking brake and stop the engine. Before you clean, adjust or repair this equipment. WARNING DO NOT USE ON GRADIENTS OF MORE THAN 15° When you operate on a gradient, or near a drop off point, decrease the speed and be careful. Read the Section 3.7.

Page 40 Tighten the nut. 51 MARQUIS: HEIGHT OF CUT SETTING ________________________________ The height of cut is measured by the position of the front rolls in relation to the bottom blade. To set the height of cut, adjust the front roll to a range of cut between 6 mm and 27 mm.
Page 41 8 ADJUSTMENTS 61 MARQUIS: HEIGHT OF CUT ADJUSTMENT__________________________ To set the height of cut, set the position of the front roll. Adjust the front roll with handwheel [C]. To increase the height of cut, lower the front roll, turn [C] to the right side. To decrease the height of cut, lift the front roll, turn [C] to the left side.
Page 42 ADJUSTMENTS MARQUIS: SIDE ROLLS ______________________________________________ To allow long grass to the cut, remove the centre sections of the front roll. Remove the front-roll bolts, spindle and rolls. Install the split pins into the spindle, position the washers and outer rolls.
Page 43 8 ADJUSTMENTS CONCAVE ADJUSTMENT ____________________________________________ If the grass clippings do not enter the grass box, the concave needs adjustment. Make sure that the concave aligns correctly with the edge of the bottom block. Loosen the screws [A] which fasten the concave to the top deck.
Page 44 ADJUSTMENTS 8.10 LANDROLL CLUTCH ADJUSTMENTS __________________________________ Loosen the locknut (A) and rotate the adjuster (B) until the lever (C) touches the pin (D). Loosen the adjuster (B) one complete turn so that the lever does not make contact with the pin. Tighten the locknuts to lock the adjustment in thisposition.

Page 77 SÉCURITÉ 3 3.1.4 ROPS La structure ROPS est un dispositif de sécurité. La structure ROPS doit être en position verticale et verrouillée. Toujours porter la ceinture de sécurité lorsque vous utilisez la tondeuse. Assurez-vous que la ceinture de sécurité peut être détachée rapidement en cas d'urgence. Ne faire fonctionner la tondeuse qu'avec la structure ROPS en position repliée sur des surfaces planes et nivelées si nécessaire.
