"fault" condition is battery voltage below 1V, you can override the charger's protection by holding down the
"START" button for 3 seconds. The charger will commence the charging sequence and, assuming these are
no other hindrances that caused the fault indication, will complete the charging process and automatically
turn off when the battery has reached full charge.
5. When the battery approaches full charge and enters the Completion Phase, the green CHARGING
COMPLETE indicator will light and the CHARGING indicator will flash. At this point, if time is critical, the
battery can be put into service if it will be used in a charging situation, such as in a vehicle that that will
be used immediately. To reach a true 100% state of charge, the charger should stay connected until the
charger reaches the Rest Phase, when only the green CHARGING COMPLETE LED is lit.
6. After charging is complete, press the START button to return the unit to Standby Mode, turn off the Master
Power Switch and unplug the charger from the AC power source. Then, disconnect the charger clamp not
connected directly to the battery first and DO NOT allow the clamp to touch anything. Then, disconnect
the charger clamp attached to the battery terminal. (See Connecting To Batteries... at the beginning of this
section.)
Unit Display Modes
The unit display provides a great deal of information as to what is happening with your battery at any given time in
the charging cycle. The display provides information related to standard operation (covered in the previous section),
special functions and errors. Below is a quick guide to potential display messages you may encounter.
Energy Saver Mode
Your unit is designed to minimize energy consumption as much as possible. If the unit is in standby mode for 10+
minutes without a key pressed, it will enter Energy Saver Mode, which is indicated by simultaneously flashing VOLTS
and TYPE indicator LEDs. At any time, you can wake the display by pressing any button.
During the charging cycle, if no buttons are pressed for more than 10 minutes, the unit will also enter Energy Saver
Mode. During standard charging, only the Mode and Charging will be lit solid. Once the charger has reached the
Completion Phase, the Mode and Charge Complete LEDs will light solid and the Charging LED will flash. When
the battery has reached full charge, the Mode and Charge Complete LEDs will light solid. As with Energy Saver in
Standby Mode, at any time, you can wake the display by pressing any button.
Battery Repair Mode
In charge mode, the unit is designed to detect battery issues, such as sulfation, and attempt to repair/recondition a
problem battery. This process is fully automatic and requires no intervention by the operator. If your charger enters
Battery Repair Mode, it will be indicated by a flashing CHARGING LED.
Reverse Polarity Indication
A Reverse Polarity condition will be indicated by a flashing Reverse Polarity LED.
Battery Fault Indication
The unit has numerous safety features that guard against shorted or otherwise compromised batteries. Conditions
that cause the fault condition include over- or under-voltage conditions, connecting to a battery with a shorted cell
or if the charger diagnoses a mismatched voltage selection. Voltage Errors, such as an under- or over-voltage condi-
tion, will be indicated by a flashing (over) or solid (under) Error LED. If you get an under voltage error immediately af-
ter pushing start, check all connections. A timeout condition (the battery did not advance to the next charging phase
within the allotted time) is indicated by simultaneously flashing Error and CHARGING LEDs.
Fan Failure Detection Indication
This unit features very high output. To ensure optimal performance, we monitor fan operation. If the unit detects an
issue with fan operation, it will indicate this by lighting the Error LED solid and showing FAn on the display.
