Production of a flame on the electric burner
ENGLISH
In order to avoid boiling over when heating liquids in a test tube, set the
control knob to the MAX position so that the air column envelops the entire
length of the tube
If the apparatus is cold: before each use, set the temperature to MAX for 45
seconds to create a column of heat, then set it to the desired temperature.
IMPORTANT:
To avoid boiling over, either place the tube in its holder or avoid shaking it.
3.4 Producing a flame
This device enables you to perform experiments in chemistry requiring the
use of a flame (metal powder combustion ...).
In this aim, using a spatula, place an Ecoflam pellet (ref. 101 012) on the
grid of LAB 3 burner which resistance has been first pre-heated. The pellet
spontaneously ignites and produces a flame which can be used during
about 1 mn.
The reactions of combustion can be directly performed above the grid of
electric burner.
with an Ecoflam pellet.
3.5 Combustions
The heat flow produced by this device enables the ignition of diverse
materials such as steel wool, a rod of charcoal or a magnesium band. Once
the device has been preheated, take the material to be ignited using a wood
clamp and place it above the warm air flow (centered on the grid). Wait a
few second until the reaction of combustion begins.
3.6 Plates for experiments
To perform reactions of combustion with flame or pyrolysis reactions,
dehydration or reactions requiring a high temperature (reaction between
iron and sulphur). These plates enable the collection of combustion
products and reactions products.
