(or below) 71°F (21.67°C) and cycles off when the temperature rises to (or above) 73°F
(22.78°C).
Defrost cycle
During heat pump operation, the defrost cycle may occur. The defrost cycle occurs
when the measured temperature of the outdoor ambient sensor is between 30°F
(– 1.11°C) ... 42°F (5.56°C).
• The defrost cycle may run anywhere from 25 to 30 minutes. The defrost cycle
operates the fan and compressor together or independently.
• During this cycle the unit will not provide hot air flow temporarily. This is normal and is
not an indication of malfunction.
• The defrost cycle continues until the measured temperature of the outdoor ambient
sensor drops to (or below) 30°F (– 1.11°C) or rises to (or above) 42°F (5.56°C).
Low ambient heat pump lock out
During heat pump operation, a low ambient heat pump lock out may occur. The heat
pump shuts down if the outside temperature falls below 30°F (– 1.11°C). The following
occurs:
• If the fan speed is set to Auto, the fan will be turned off.
• The fan remains on if not in Auto fan mode.
• The compressor will not run and there will be no heat function below 30°F (– 1.11°C).
Auxiliary heat operation
During heat pump operation, a low ambient heat pump lock out may occur. The heat
pump shuts down if the outside temperature falls below 30°F (– 1.11°C). The following
occurs:
• If the fan speed is set to Auto, the fan will be turned off.
• The fan remains on if not in Auto fan mode.
• The compressor will not run and there will be no heat function below 30°F (– 1.11°C).
NOTE When in Auto fan mode, the fan is off during auxiliary heat operation.
7.2.6
Eco mode
The Eco mode conserves energy when power consumption needs to be minimized for
cooling. When the Eco mode is active:
• The temperature is maintained at 2°F (1°C) from the set point for cooling. The fan is
controlled automatically to help retain the setpoint.
• The fan continues to run for one minute aer the compressor shuts off. The fan
then continues to run until the room temperature exceeds the desired setpoint
temperature, 2°F (1°C) degrees in terms of cooling, at which time the compressor
turns back on.
7.2.7
Sleep mode
The Sleep mode provides a comfortable sleeping environmnet, minimizing compressor
cycling and reducing the LCD brightness level. When the Sleep mode is active:
• The system reduces the fan speed and gradually raises the set point to minimize
compressor cycling and increase comfort.
• By default, the fan speed is low (regardless of fan speed selection).
• In the first hour, the setpoint automatically increases by 2°F (1°C). Conversely, during
Heat mode, the setpoint decreases by 2°F (1°C).
• During the second hour following the initiation of Sleep mode, the temperature
automatically increases by another 2°F (1°C). Conversely, during Heat mode, the
setpoint decreases another 2°F (1°C).
7.2.8
Dry mode
The Dry mode provides mild dehumidification for room temperatures above the setpoint
and when additional cooling is not required.
In Dry mode, the fan speed is set to Low by default, regardless of the fan setting.
• The compressor cycles on and off at intervals of about six minutes to extract moisture
from the air while not changing the room temperature per the setpoint. Dry mode is
not a substitute for a standalone dehumidifier.
• The rooop unit will not dehumidify if the room temperature is below 64°F (17.78°C).
The minimum setpoint is 65°F (18.33°C).

7.2.9
Turbo mode
The Turbo mode provides maximum cooling for rapid cool-down and/or spot cooling
when room temperatures exceed the setpoint.
In Turbo mode, the fan speed is set to Turbo by default, regardless of the fan setting.
• The temperature setpoint will be set to the lowest setting of 55°F (12.78°C)
regardless of the setpoint selection.
• The compressor will operate continuously to try to reach the lowest setpoint.
NOTE There is about a two minute compressor delay before the cooling or
heat pump cycle begins.
7.3
Using the thermostat
NOTE If legacy devices are installed on the system, you must initialize the
system prior to operation. See
7.3.1
Powering the thermostat on or off
To turn the thermostat on, press
To turn the thermostat off, press and hold
hold
for five seconds as it counts down to a dark screen.
7.3.2
Adjusting the temperature
NOTE The temperature can only be manually adjusted when operating in
modes that allow temperature adjustment.
The maximum setpoint temperature is 90°F (32.22°C). The minimum setpoint is
determined by the active operating mode:
• For heating: 40°F (4.44°C)
• For auto: 50°F (10°C)
• For cooling: 60°F (15.56°C)
Rotate to increase or decrease the setpoint temperature.
• Turn clockwise to increase the setpoint temperature in one degree increments.
• Turn counterclockwise to decrease the setpoint temperature in one degree
increments.
