Before using the contact grill for the first time, proceed as follows: carefully unpack the appliance and remove all packaging
material as well as any promotional stickers. Keep the packaging (plastic bags and cardboard) out of the reach of children.
After unpacking the appliance, check it for external damage that may have occurred during transport. Fully read the instruction
manual and store it for future reference.
Place the contact grill on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface. Clean the outside of the contact grill and the grill plates with a
slightly damp cloth and then wipe with a dry cloth. For the best result, lightly cover the grill plates with some cooking oil.
Caution: The first time you switch on the contact grill, it is possible that some smoke or odour is released. This is normal and
does not mean that there is anything wrong with the appliance.
Place the contact grill on a stable heat-resistant surface. Fully unwind the cord and insert the plug in the wall socket. Allow the
appliance to heat up while preparing the food. The red indicator led indicates that the contact grill is connected to the mains power.
Turn the temperature knob to the required position. It takes the contact grill approximately three minutes to heat up.
The contact grill is provided with a thermostat that controls the temperature of the appliance. Once the contact grill has
reached the required temperature, the green indicator led switches off. The contact grill is now ready for use.
Caution: do not touch the metal parts and grill plates, as these get very hot.
Open the contact grill and place the food, sandwich, meat or other product to be prepared on the bottom grill plate. Close the
lid. If this has not yet been done, slide the drip tray in the bottom of the appliance. The top grill plate has a hinge and exerts an
even pressure on the food to be prepared. In case of soft or delicate food, push the slide on the ride side to the rear so that the
top grill plate exerts less pressure on the food. The best result is achieved by preparing food that has a similar height all over.
Remove the food with a wooden or plastic spatula, in order to protect the non-stick coating. Do not use metal or sharp objects.
Warning: fillings of toasted sandwiches get very hot. So do be careful, particularly in the case of children.
Released fat and cooking liquid is discharged to the drip tray via the ridges of the grill plates. Regularly check whether the drip
tray should be emptied.
