FOLDING
To fold the wheelchair, all the steps described above must be carried out in reverse order.
MOVING IN A WHEELCHAIR
When moving in a wheelchair, the hands should be arranged so that the thumb lies along the top of the wheel and
the fi ngers hold the bo om of the wheel. This ensures a fi rm grip and the ability to let go of the wheels quickly.
Grasp the wheels at the height of the backrest and push them forward with a vigorous movement. A guide is fi ed
along the wheels to help you push the wheels fi rmly. A er the movement, bring your hands back to the star ng
point so that they form a circle. This prevents the shoulders and arms from working during the return movement.
Do not move the hands back to the star ng point along the drive wheel. The wheelchair is designed so that the
main load rests on the rear (large) wheels. In this way, the front (small) wheels remain relieved, preven ng damage
to them. However, the method of construc on described above poses a certain risk of the product pping over
when moving on ramps, inclines or overcoming obstacles if safety rules are not observed. Therefore, please read the
rules described in the instruc ons carefully.
OVERCOMING OBSTACLES:
- If for any reason you are unable to overcome an obstacle while moving in a wheelchair, please ask for assistance.
A empts to overcome an obstacle on your own may end up pping the wheelchair over and causing injury.
- most users are able to overcome small obstacles on their own;
- descending a small threshold (kerb) - posi on yourself facing forwards, perpendicular to the axis of the threshold,
ensure that the footrests do not overlap the ground and descend the threshold. Avoid leaning forward;
- when descending a large threshold (kerbstone), posi on yourself with your back perpendicular to the axis of the
threshold, lean forwards, shi your centre of gravity forwards and then drive off the obstacle, controlling the speed
of descent by suppor ng the drive wheels with your hands;
- in the case of steep obstacles or stairs, always ask for help;
- To ascend a threshold, transfer all body weight to the rear wheels and pass the step by pushing the drive wheels
with your hands and balancing your body. The wheelchair should be posi oned perpendicular to the obstacle. By
balancing with the body, place the front wheels on the obstacle and then shi the body weight forward (by leaning
forward) and push the drive wheels onto the obstacle. In the case of steep inclines or high obstacles, it is essen al
to ask for help.
- When driving on inclines, take extra care not to lose control of the wheelchair. Speed must be controlled at all
mes. If you are in any doubt as to whether you can safely pass an incline, it is essen al that you ask for help from
another person.
