Mixing Valves
Mixing valves used at the hot water tap to reducing water temperature are
available from your local plumbing contractor. Consult a Qualified Installer or
Service Agency and Follow mixing valve manufacturer's instructions for
installation of the valves.
Extended Shut-off Periods
During extended periods of time when hot water will not be in use, shut off the
electric power and water supply to the water heater. Drain the water heater to
save energy and prevent a build-up of dangerous hydrogen gas.
The water heater and piping should be drained if they might be subjected to
freezing conditions. After a long shutdown period, the water heater's operation
and controls should be checked by qualified service personnel. Make certain
the water heater is completely filled again before placing it back in operation.
Note: Refer to the Hydrogen Gas Caution in this Manual (see page 3).
Maintenance
Exterior Surfaces
Hand wash with damp cloth, using only warm water. Wipe dry using a dry and
clean cloth.
Routine Preventive Maintenance
Danger
Risk of Scald - When checking the temperature-pressure relief valve
operation, make sure that no one is in front of or around the outlet of the
temperature pressure relief valve discharge line, and that the water discharge
will not cause any property damage, as the water may be extremely hot.
If the temperature-pressure relief valve on the appliance weeps or discharges
periodically, this may be due to thermal expansion. You may have a check
valve installed in the water line or a water meter with a check valve. Consult
your local water supplier or service agency for further information. Do not plug
or remove the temperature-pressure relief valve.
