5. Cleaning and Maintenance
Cleaning
5.1
• Remove the battery before undertaking
any cleaning or maintenance work.
• Keep safety devices, ventilation openings
and the motor housing as free as possi-
ble from dirt and dust. Rub the electric
power tool with a clean cloth or blow
over it with low pressure compressed air.
• We recommend that you clean your elec-
tric power tool immediately after each
use.
• Clean the electric power tool regularly
with a damp cloth and somewhat soft
soap. Do not use any cleaning or solvent
materials; these can attack the device's
plastic components. Make sure that no
water can get inside the electric power
tool.
Maintenance
5.2
There are no inner parts of the tool which
need maintenance.

Charging
6.3

use it until runs down (i.e. the tool will
only slowly operate). Recharge for 1 to
2.5 hours again before resuming
operation.
• The yellow charge indicator LED light will
illumicate when the battery is running
low and requires charging.
7. Cutting Tips
Shaping
7.1
A hedge should be trimmed to achive a
trapezoidal form; it should widen toward the
bottom on both sides. Shaping a hedge in
this manner improves the penetration of
light to the lower extemities. A general guid-
line is to slant the hedge approximately 10
cm for each 1m of hedge height.
Cutting Sequence
7.2
First cut both sides; start at the bottom and
work towards the top. This prevents cut-
tings from falling into the area that you have
yet to trim.
Trimming the top
7.3
Where the branches have grown extremely
long, cut back the hedge in several stages.
The shorter cuttings obtained are best
suited for composting.
Pruning thick branches
7.4
When older hedges are to be cut a substan-
tial amount, use pruning shears or some
other device to trim thicker braches (greater
than 8mm in diameter) to the desired lenght
before starting work with the hedge trim-
mer.
To shape precisely, run a taught line
between the extreme edges of the hedge
and then trim along the length of the line.
Ensure that the blade does not come into
contact with any object made of hard mate-
rial that could damage it, such as fencing
wire or metallic plant supports.
