25.
Some towballs may have a coating from the manufacturer for protection, this protective coating
must be removed before installing the load carrier, bike rack or rear accessory.
26.
The load carrier, bike carrier and/or rear accessories should be re-tightened frequently. Check
frequently if the product has movement on the tow ball or if the clamping force has been redu-
ced and, if so, re-tighten according to the assembly instructions.
27.
The weight of the load carrier, bike carrier and/or rear accessory and the load must never
exceed the maximum load capacity of the towbar.
28.
Check the maximum load capacity of the towbar in the manufacturer's assembly instructions,
in the vehicle instructions manual or contact your local dealer/distributor/store.
29.
Always check the correct operation and visibility of the lights before starting to drive the vehicle.
Loading
30.
Do not transport objects whose shape, content or nature, may be dangerous for other road
users.
31.
The maximum load capacity shown in the assembly instructions must not be exceeded. In any
case, the vehicle manufacturer's instructions and/or the manufacturer of the towbar or hitch
receiver regarding maximum load capacity must always be taken into account, and if they
differ from that shown in the assembly instructions then the lower one will be correct.
32.
Maximum rear load capacity = weight of load carrier + weight of other rear accessories. +
weight of load.
33.
These maximum load capacities refer to both dynamic maximum load capacities (vehicle in
motion) and static maximum load capacities (vehicle parked).
34.
In the case of bike carriers, the maximum number of bikes and maximum weight of each bike
may never exceed the maximums specified in the assembly instructions of the load carrier,
bike carrier or rear accessory.
35.
The load must be evenly distributed over the total loading area of the product, with the centre
of gravity as low as possible. The load must not protrude significantly over the loading area and
local traffic regulations must be followed.
36.
When loading bikes, the largest and heaviest bikes should always be placed in the positions
closest to the vehicle, followed by the smallest and lightest bikes.
37.
Load carriers, bike carriers and/or rear accessories have been designed for the transport of
standard bikes; tandem bikes should not be transported on them.
38.
Before transporting bikes, make sure they are compatible with the load carrier, bike carrier or
rear accessory. Always check the assembly instructions for the maximum size of bike, frame,
wheels and tires.
39.
When loading, transporting and unloading bikes, make sure that they do not come into contact
with each other or with the vehicle. Pay particular attention to handlebars and pedals. The use
of protective pads can help prevent damage.
40.
In certain cases, depending on the load carrier, bike carrier or rear accessory and the bikes
(for example, some city bikes) the use of frame adapters is necessary, please refer to the as-
sembly instructions or contact a local dealer/store for information.
41.
Before transporting bikes with carbon elements, mainly frames and/or forks, always check with
the bike manufacturer or distributor to ensure that they are compatible with the use of load
carriers, bike carriers or rear accessories.
42.
Sometimes, depending on local traffic regulations, loads on the rear of the vehicle need to be
fitted with warning signs and/or warning lights. Always check local traffic laws before driving.
43.
Ensure that the trunk does not interfere with the load carrier, bike carrier or rear accessory
(bicycles, etc.) when opening or closing the trunk. The user is the solely responsible for any
damage that may be caused to the vehicle, the product and/or the load if this is not done.
44.
Use only specific accessories for carrying bikes, skis, etc.
45.
All loose or removable parts of the load, such as saddlebags, air pumps, jerry cans, child
seats, baskets, trim, fins, etc., unless permanently attached, must be removed before starting
to drive, as they may come loose and cause injury to other users.
46.
Loads must be secured against shifting out of place with appropriate fixation straps or similar
(no elastic straps with fixing hooks).
