6.2
Notes on compacting fresh concrete
Submerging the vibratory poker into the fresh concrete causes de-aeration and compaction of the fresh
concrete within the area of influence of the vibratory poker. The result of compaction generally depends on
the following factors:
•
Consistency of the concrete.
•
Density of reinforcement.
•
Diameter of the vibratory poker.
•
Dwell time of the vibratory poker in the concrete.
With a small-diameter vibratory poker, for example, you have to compact for longer to achieve the
same effect as you would with a large-diameter vibratory poker.
The concrete is sufficiently compacted when:
•
No more bubbles rise to the surface.
•
The concrete no longer subsides.
•
The sound made by the vibratory poker no longer changes.
Submerge the vibratory poker into the concrete in all areas of the formwork. Compact the concrete
with particular intensity at the formwork corners, because these are the areas with the highest density of
reinforcement.
Avoid bringing the vibratory poker into contact with the reinforcement. The adherence of the concrete to the
reinforcement can be lost and the vibratory poker can be damaged.
6.3
Performing compacting work
For optimum results, always keep the submerged vibratory poker vertical and avoid sideways movements.
Do not switch the product on until the vibratory poker is fully submerged in the fresh concrete.
1. Hold the product securely with one hand on the housing (see → page 7), while inserting the vibratory
poker into the fresh concrete.

Care of the product
•
Carefully remove stubborn dirt.
•
Carefully clean the air vents, if present, with a dry, soft brush.
•
Use only a slightly damp cloth to clean the housing. Do not use cleaning agents containing silicone as
these can attack the plastic parts.

Use a dry, clean cloth to clean the contacts of the product.
