5. Operating instructions
5.1. Instructions for ignition
-
Check if the fire pit is stable and firm.
-
Make sure the fire pit is connected to a filled gas cylinder and that a full battery is placed in the ignition.
Press the small black button (ignition button) fully until you hear a soft ticking, this is the piezo ignition.
If you hear nothing when pushing the ignition button, then you probably need to replace the battery.
Keep the ignition button pressed while opening the gas supply by turning the large knob (gas supply) to
'HIGH'. The burner should now ignite within 15 seconds. Once the burner fully produces flames, hold
down the control knob for another 15 seconds. The flames now stay lit. Do the flames extinguish? Then
try this again and hold down the gas supply button even longer.
-
If the burner still does not keep burning, contact the seller.
5.2. First use
Note! Are you going to use the fire pit for the first time? Then make sure the device is switched on at the highest
setting for 15 minutes. This way, the lava stones are heated well and this ensures that any bumps or air bubbles
will dis appear from the lava stones. During the first use, and after the lava stones have been damp (due to rain,
for example), keep at least two metres away from the burner and also ensure that no flammable materials are
placed around or on the pit within this two-metre radius. As the air bubbles are burnt out of the lava stones, the
stones may jump up the first time and after being wet and possibly come out of the burner.
Want to clean up or move the lava stones after use? Then always make sure they have cooled down completely!
The lava stones may eventually blacken. This is due to soot formation, which always occurs with devices that
produce yellow flames. This soot can be removed by blowing/vacuuming the lava stones with an ash vacuum
cleaner. The soot can also be brushed off with a dry brush.
5.3. Switching off the fire pit
-
Want to switch off the fire pit? Turn the control knob all the way to 'OFF' so that the flames go out.
Once the flames are completely extinguished, close the gas valve on the gas cylinder.
-
Let the fire pit and lava stones cool down completely before placing a cover plate over the burner.
5.4. Moving the device
The Cosipillar is supplied with four wheels. These wheels can be used to easily move the Cosipillar to another
location, thus allowing you to enjoy the pillar at various locations in your garden or on your patio. Step 2.1 shows
how the wheels can be fitted.
Please note: if you want to move the Cosipillar, make sure that the Cosipillar has been disconnected and has fully
cooled down. Release the brake on the wheels, and push or pull the body of the Cosipillar to move it. Please
note: Do not lift or push the top of the frame; this sits loosely on top of the glass/frame. Be careful; the Cosipillar
could fall over if too much force is applied. Is the Cosipillar now in the desired position? Then activate the brake
on the wheels before using the Cosipillar.
5.5. Replacing the gas hose and gas pressure regulator
The service life of a propane gas hose is 5 to 10 years. It is recommended to replace the gas hose and gas
pressure regulator once every 5 years. Check the device for gas leaks after replacing the gas pressure regulator
and gas hose and before each use. This is done as follows:
-
Open the gas cylinder, but do not turn on the device (control knob remains on OFF)!
-
Make a mixture of 50% detergent and 50% water and apply it to all connections and to the gas hose.
If there is a gas leak in the connections or hose, air bubbles will form.
-
If air bubbles become visible, meaning there is a gas leak, immediately close the gas valve of the gas
cylinder. Replace the hose or gas pressure regulator with a new one and perform the check again.
Ignite the device only when no more bubbles are detected.
-
Should the problem persist, contact a gas technical specialist.
Are you replacing the gas hose and/or gas pressure regulator? Then install them in exactly the same way as
they were fitted. The gas hose should be a maximum of 2.5 metres long. In point 6. 'Technical specifications',
