∙ Never remove the water container
from the base (or replace it) while the
appliance is switched on.
Danger of burns and scalding
The appliance heats up water and keeps
it hot. The exterior surfaces, the glass
carafe and the hot-plate become hot
during use and will remain so for some
time afterwards. There is thus a danger
of burns or scalding
∙ Do not touch those components during
use: after use, allow them to cool
down fi rst.
∙ Do not open the fi lter door during use.
Wait until the appliance has cooled
down suffi ciently after use.
∙ Always allow the appliance to cool
down before fi lling with fresh water.
Lack of Hygiene
Lack of hygiene may result in germs
forming inside the appliance:
∙ Clean the appliance thoroughly before
using it for the fi rst time.
∙ Before cleaning the appliance,
ensure it is disconnected from the
power supply and has cooled down
completely.
∙ The fi lter holder and glass carafe
should be cleaned on a daily basis.
∙ The water in the container should be
changed every day.
∙ The appliance must be descaled at
regular intervals.

Danger of damage to the unit
Incorrect handling of the appliance can
cause damage:
∙ Always place the unit on a dry,
level surface that is water- and
heat-resistant, and unaffected by
contact with the rubber feet.
∙ Do not operate the appliance below
a hanging cupboard or similar
object; there is a risk that escaping
steam may be trapped underneath.
∙ Do not let the power cord hang free.
∙ Do not kink or pinch the power cord.
Keep both the cord and the appliance
itself well away from heat sources (eg
hot-plates, gas fl ames).
∙ Use only cold tap water to fi ll the
container.
∙ Do not put ground coffee in the bean
container.
∙ Do not use green or caramelised coffee
beans with this appliance.
Intended use
∙ The appliance must only be used
for making coffee from roasted or
unground coffee beans.
∙ Any use other than that described in
these instructions must be considered
improper and may lead to personal
injury or material damage.
∙ This appliance is intended for domestic
or similar applications, such as
- in staff kitchens in shops, offi ces and
other similar working environments,
- in agricultural working environments,
- by customers in hotels, motels etc.
and similar accommodation,
- in bed-and breakfast type
