SETTING UP: The recommendations given in the previous sections generally apply to the positioning
of the speakers. When used as a front speaker, the distance from the listening position should be at
least 2.5-3 m. The speakers should be directed slightly towards the listening position.
The AURORA 900 AM can also be used as rear speakers (home cinema system with four Atmos
height channels, 5.x.4 configuration). The height channel is then used as rear high. However, it should
be ensured that the speakers can be set up clearly behind the listening position (distance at least
1-1.5m). The distance between the two speakers should roughly correspond to the distance between
the front speakers. A possible setup configuration is shown in Fig. 3b.
CONNECTING: The speaker has two connection terminals at the rear. The lower terminal is assigned to
the main speaker, and the upper one to the treble speaker (Fig. 5d).
Please note:
The protective cover of the treble speaker may only be removed for servicing purposes.
HECO AURORA SUB 30A
The AURORA SUB 30A active subwoofer visually and acoustically ideally matches the other
loudspeakers in the AURORA series. Please refer to the separate operating instructions supplied with
this product.
CONNECTING TO AN AV RECEIVER
Fig. 6 shows the connecting to an AV receiver.
HOW TO AVOID DAMAGE TO YOUR VALUABLE SPEAKERS
All HECO loudspeakers are designed and built for optimum sound reproduction with the tone controls
in the central position – i.e. with "linear" amplifier output. Turning up the bass and treble controls too
far delivers more power to the woofers and/or tweeters, and at high volumes this can actually destroy
the speaker units!
If the output of your amplifier is significantly higher than the rated power handling capacity of your
speakers extremely high volumes can physically destroy your speakers. This doesn't actually happen
often but you should be aware that it is possible.
Weak amplifiers with low output ratings can actually be more dangerous for your speakers at medium
volumes because weak amplifiers may overload much faster than powerful ones and this causes
measurable and audible distortion, which is extremely dangerous to your loudspeakers.
Always turn the volume down immediately as soon as you hear distortion! If you like listening to loud
music make sure that your amplifier can deliver at least as much power as the speakers' power-
handling rating.
THE SOUND YOU CAN'T HEAR...
Amplifiers, tuners and CD players can all produce inaudible high-frequency signals – and this doesn't
only apply to cheap products. If your tweeters fail at low or medium volumes you should have a
qualified technician check your system components for dangerous inaudible signals.
