Charcoal Lighting Instructions
• Open grill lid.
• Remove cooking grates.
• Adjust charcoal grate assembly to the desired position.

methods:
• Place one even row of charcoal briquettes in the charcoal grate assembly.
Ensure charcoal does not go above the top of the charcoal grate pan.
• Stack the briquettes in a pyramid shape (recommended for searing).
• If using a chimney starter, place one even row of charcoal briquettes in the
charcoal grate assembly. Make sure that charcoal does not go above the
top of the charcoal grate pan.
Note: Always strictly follow the chimney starter manufacturer's directions for
use.
• Use charcoal lighter fluid if desired. Light briquettes.
• With the top open, allow the briquettes to fully ignite (to the point where there is
no further flame).
• When the briquettes are lit, put the cooking grates back in the grill using heat-
resistant gloves.
• Adjust side damper as required to achieve the proper temperature.
Seasoning the Grill
Before your first cooking you should season the grill to enhance cooking and durability. Failure to
properly follow these steps may damage the finish and/or impart metallic flavors to foods.
1. Remove all retail hangtags from the grill, making sure NOT to remove safety markings or labels.
2. Set charcoal grate assembly at medium height. Place one even row of charcoal briquettes in the
charcoal grill.
3. Coat interior surfaces of grill with vegetable cooking oil.
4. Light briquettes.
5. Sustain burn for about two hours with lid closed and damper set to 1/4 of the way open. Allow the grill
to cool down properly.
After seasoning is completed, the grill is ready for use.
